Facebook has registered over 500 domain names related to Covid-19 for its Facebook and Instagram brands.

The company registered the domain names yesterday as the platforms come under fire for spreading false information about the novel coronavirus and resulting disease.
Some of the domains are:

facebook-coronavirus-info.com
facebook-coronavirus-info.net
facebook-coronavirus-information.com
facebook-coronavirus-information.net
facebook-coronavirus-support.com

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
The hyphens must be for indexable reasons.

They better not post them for sale without expecting a slap on the wrist. :xf.laugh::ROFL:

unless FB chooses Epik

FB have taken a lot of heat for the spread of misinformation on various political and pseudo-scientific topics. I wonder if they have corporate plans to have a division that will do everything possible to promote accurate information through carefully curated content, and these are intended for that? Still not clear why they would need so many names to do that, so this might simply be defensive, cheaper to register a bunch than later launch a bunch of UDRPs. I did vote that yes, a defensive move.

Thanks for sharing the information @abstractdomainer.

One thing is certain, they won't have many places to list them for sale. ;)

PS. facebook-coronavirus-disinformation.com still available :xf.rolleyes:

They are trying to mitigate potential phishing addresses. These registrations are done to show they are being proactive with cybersecurity measures protecting users data.

Fighting with "corona virus" wich is now more hot word than "sex" on google is not an easy job (much more search of corona and covid).

Could be. But how many will they register.
I don't think anyone would believe a domain with multiple hyphens anyway!

The amount of names would be subjective by the department that initiated registrations. Big tech is very departmentalized. The department that registered these names can now report they were proactive with mitigation. In other words, one department was "covering their (expletive)".
