Hi everyone. I see a lot of people talking about trademarks and how serious it is but maybe I am just not getting it but what would happen in the following hypothetical situation:
- Bob registers a domain with no bad intentions.
- Bob puts a for sale sign on the domain and waits to be contacted.
- Bob never reaches out to contact any buyers.
Let's pretend there is a trademark that Bob didn't know about. If the lawyers contact Bob cant he simply tell them here you can have the domain? It only cost Bob $8 to register this domain and he doesn't care if he loses it.
1. What the worst that can happen if Bob simply decides to hand over the domain back?
2. Can the lawyers find out Bobs info if he has domain privacy enabled?
3. Will the domain registrar block his entire account due to that one trademark domain? Will they charge him a fee if it goes to udrp and he loses?
4. I guess what Bob wants to know is if he unknowingly registers a trademark domain, why is it such a big deal if it only cost him $8 and he doesn't care if he looses that single domain.
Thanks
