If you are calling businesses then cold calling is not that bad...... you need to be able to communicate effectively over the phone. If you can't do this then this might not be the right approach for you
If you want to give it a crack though.......
Use Lusha and it will scrape direct work contact details off LinkedIn for the Directors, VP's or business owners you are trying to contact.
When you call them make sure you introduce yourself , why you are calling, mention the unique selling points of the name making sure this is related to their company and how the name will benefit them - do this promptly and with some energy in your voice and try not to sound like you are reading off a script
Don't ask them how they are (you don't know each other and it sounds insincere) and do not ramble.
Keep it short and on point
I personally always use their first name - Hi, is that "John"? Hi it's Nick here calling from xyz the reason I am calling is...........go straight in.
Don't care if you have a PHD are a CEO or have stick up your arse, always use their first name, do not put them on pedestal, they are just people.....
Tell them you have an email proposal laid out and you will send it over to them and will call back in a couple of days to discuss further and see if they have any questions. Ask them to check their junk box as you have not sent them an email before so it might end up in there and ask them if they have any questions at this stage - if they ask how much your looking for (great sign!) be direct and quote a figure, no ums and arghs and stay quiet after quoting the price
Thank them for their time and get the details over to them ASAP
It is then up to you to send an email and call them back in a couple of days and that is a different kettle of fish....
Cold calling is a numbers game, the more people you speak to the more chance you have of selling. You will be told I'm not interested (move on to someone who wants to talk to you then), hung up on (who cares) and people can be rude as you are calling them out of the blue. Just move on to the next call as it brings you one step closer to closing a deal
Have fun with it and make sure to be yourself, people buy off people
