I own the domain: BlockchainHiTech.com. For almost a year, no one has been interested in buying that domain, not even $100.

I notice someone their domain: BlockchainTechnology.com offers for: $200,000.00, same, or different owner offers the BlockchainTech.com for: $100,000.00. These domains are definitely worth a lot.‚ but why is my domain, very similar to them, worth nothing?

I guess the problem is in that Hi (high), but isn't Blockchain a High Technology?

English is not my native language (I live in Europe), so maybe the problem is my misunderstanding of the full meaning of those words.

For this reason, I ask the more experienced members of this forum to explain what this is all about.

Thanks in advance.

No domain is worth nothing, it is simply a case of finding someone that has a need for it.

If we consider Blockchain as one word the domains in your examples are two word domains whereas yours is a three word domain. There is a big value and demand difference in 2 word domains compared to 3. (plus of course that Hi/High is a misspell)

Personally I consider block chain to be two words so technically your domain is 4 words long and that is probably why you have received no offers.

Hang tight though..... in domaining anything is possible. (y)

They can ask for 10 billion US$ if they want to; it doesn't mean these domains are worth 4 figures, let alone 6 figures.

For many Domaining is just supplemental income. There's a lot of shady stuff that happens in this industry. Don't get carried away by looking at historical data.

I'm sure you've done some research when you stepped in this industry. If you believed the domain name in your possession has value in your eyes (minus the 🐦💩 domains) then have faith, market it and show others what you see regardless of others opinion. If it doesn't sell then time is your best teacher.

The general understanding is that once you start adding additional words or text that don't actually better define or add clarity or meaning - then your on a downward spiral. That additional "Hi" in your term is just a killer.

Going to agree with what's been said. The "hi" hurts the value big time.

Subtle differences are monumentally huge in domains. Even singular vs. plural can have dramatic differences at times.

A number of insightful comments given above and I agree with the points raised.

I would just mention a few other things. If you look in NameBio with hitech as a prefix or suffix it shows that hitech is much more common as a prefix (16 sales vs 0 as pure suffix in NameBio). BTW if you just do a general search it picks up sales that are not really about the term, like WhiteChick for example :xf.wink:. So while it would still suffer from the length/number words/uniqueness issues mentioned, I think HiTechBlockchain would have a better chance of sale (it is registered).

The second point is while blockchain is an incredibly important technical area and that there have been and will be good domain sales, it is also incredibly over-speculated. Dofo says as of today 14,280 domain names including blockchain are for sale (and many more registered). Lots of competition for the few buyers of blockchain names.

A third, perhaps minor, point is that I believe the term hitech was more a term used a decade ago than now (have not researched but that is my perception). Blockchain is hitech, so it is a little redundant and as @BaileyUK says ideally only add extra words when they further define something (e.g. AirConditioning is I think technically 2 words, but both are necessary for the product).

Despite all of my reservations, it is not a terrible name, and as @MapleDots says any name just needs one buyer who finds it a good fit and eventually it may sell. I hope that you are able to sell it, @Emil K.

I would have thought it's not bad
so it might be the unavoidable
issue of non native speaking /
cultural differences

These are both asking a minimum offer of 10K, not sure where you got those figures from??

Try slapping 2 or 3 words together and hope for best. Why not throw in an abbreviation as well and make it 4 words as this is exactly what you did. So you mentioned a 1st and a 2nd choice yours isn’t automatically the 3rd choice. Ever think you missed out on niche and look for another rather than trying to fill non existent gaps in market.

hitech = health information technology. It is a good keyword along with blockchain but it just doesn't work in this particular name. HitechBlockchain.com would probably have some value. Obviously blockchaintech would have huge value. Like many others, this name flirts with some good keywords, but the combo/order doesn't work.

Although no domain is worth nothing, if it takes 10 years to get a $100 offer then it's worth less than it costs to keep, in which case you should drop it anyway. At a minimum, you should only keep domains that have higher resale value and lower liquidity, or lower resale value and higher liquidity. Avoid a combination of lower resale value and liquidity at all costs.

In this sense, I wouldn't keep BlockchainHitech.com myself.
