google” godaddy employee caught bidding on domain name auctions “ , story can be read at onlinedomain.com . of course godaddy wouldn’t give the name of the employee who got caught or the domains that they bid on . ( so much for honesty & transparency ) huh godaddy ? , the story is from March 2019.

godaddy never released the employees name or the domains that they bid on , lol . @Joe Styler would you like to explain WHY ? , I thought godaddy was about HONESTY & TRANSPARENCY . it looks like the almighty dollar is more important to godaddy than their customers .

tbh, you bid what you want. Let's say CannabisL.com dropped and was at GD auctions.

This name could be worth xx,xxx. Or it could be worth at least mid-xx. If your budget only allows for xx acquisition fuel, then you can only bid $99. Shill bidding or not, that's your cap.

Prodomainers do their due diligence, they know how much to spend per name to end up in a profit and not in the red. consistently spending $xxx on one auction is only viable if expected sail price is _______ and if you have a considerably huge bankroll.

so it doesn't matter if someone shill bids CannabisL into 5k, because no one who is a prodomainer would buy that at that price, so the shiller loses out.

What does this mean? The shiller already knows there's a certain price a domain won't go over, so they have THEIR OWN cap. Their own cap is determined by industry standards -- pro domainers who know what not to spend.

So in other words, I believe CannabisL.com would go to that price whether or not there was a troll shiller...

Same with most GD auctions except for those that have clearly only 2 bidders and one of them is HD or GD employees <-- that's when you can cry and punch GD in the face.

godaddy has been accused of this before more than a few times isn’t that right @Joe Styler , godaddy & other registrars have been been doing it for many years . back in 2008 their vp (Vice President ) of managing auctions of expired domains was accused of participating in & driving up prices of domains in the auctions , what’s that old saying .... where their’s smoke , their’s fire . now joe @Joe Styler will come on here to defend his company , that’s what he gets paid for but how he & other registrar reps can keep a straight face while feeding us all a line of BS is beyond me ..... maybe that’s why they get paid the big bucks ? if you’d like to read the article about the godaddy vp just google “ godaddy vp caught bidding against customers “ - slashdot . it may not be illegal but it’s highly unethical & most certainly price gouging .

Joe seems like a straight up man. If we're all really honest, with all the employees, and tech how it is, there's no way you can guarantee 100% there's no dodgy business going on.

@robert widener - this was already posted and discussed here on nP, back In March - and was based on a post on GoDaddy's own blog. They were the ones who openly brought this employee and his actions out in the open. See the previous nP discussion here.
