Was curious what people thought WeTune.com might be worth? I was thinking somewhere in $XXXX. Could be used for car tuning, guitar tuning, or could just be a music site. If anyone has any input that would be greatly appreciated.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
IMO it is worth only to low xx.

Thanks for the input! I will definitely try flippa for this name.. these are some similar domains GoDaddy compared it to..

Weflip.com $4000
Wescale.com $5750
Wecrave.com $4000
Wesale.com $5000

If I was hoping to get something closer to those numbers (at least $2500 would be real nice) then what should I set the reserve at on flippa? If I set it too high will it scare bidders away? I am new to trying to sell domains that might actually be worth something decent lol. Most of the domains I used to sell on flippa did not have as much potential.

I think it's a good name. Be interesting to see what you get to. And yes, expert negotiations are what is needed!

I am inexperienced at this also, but could you refer it to a broker?

I think the we + a solid somehow connected short word dot com domains may be quite valuable but the second word must really be a good one. Some of those other we____.com domains you mention include just such a valuable keyword.

The applications for “tune” as a verb just aren’t so internet related I don’t think which is why people in this thread are putting your name down.

I mean who’s going to buy it? A shop that tunes pianos guitars or some other musical instrument? Or as someone else alluded something to do with music but even then not really the sale of music? Think about what the word tune means when preceded by we - it makes the word a verb. (It’s not a noun like iTunes.) So, what applications are there for tuning on the web? If you think hard there might be some (such as a site to optimize websites and forums) but I think some of these become a stretch and even if they fit - of limited application.

Anyway you just have to hope that the right buyer comes along which is what we all await with any domain. But I see it more like a square peg trying to fit into the high end circle of we + keyword dot coms.

I definitely see your point and I appreciate the input. One that you did not mention was tuning of cars. But I do definitely see where your coming from.

Good luck. Unless there is an internet related business for “tuning” this domain will not sell for much. Any relation to a brick and mortar business of tuning whether cars pianos or whatever for this particular name is not going to be a national brand name that comes to my mind anyway. Firestone Jiffylube ExpressTire SuperShops etc. not “CarTune”. That’s why I didn’t bother to get into every possible “tuning” business - only an internet related one is going to matter unless the name you come up with is both exact match and brandable because then it could apply to a nationwide chain of brick and mortar shops that “tune.” Again - think about it - it’s GuitarTrader not guitartune.

I also tend to agree that @Riz M. has it about right. I think this is one of those names that may sell for a decent amount should you connect with right buyer who sees it as a match.

On the one hand there are various possibilities
  • piano, other music tuners (still a number of these!)
  • car tune up shops as mentioned
  • maybe some sort of lyricist, composer, etc. who had a bit offbeat branding sense
  • as an outside chance music sharing, although plural better
  • as someone who sees it broken as WetUne (with une as French one)
Unfortunately, it does not quite feel right to me as a phrase (as others have said). Nevertheless, it is possible it will sell for something $$$$. There are a number of sales starting in We and also other sales with tune.

f you are the person who paid the amount in NameBio for it, I really hope you get at least some profit out of the transaction, but I think it may be challenging to make much. The very best wishes for it. It does feel bold and only 6 characters and in .com, so has positives for sure.

Bob

Disclosure Not a niche I have expertise in so treat my opinions not too seriously.

I think I'm gonna list it on flippa with a $999 reserve and see what happens.. if not I'll hold it for a while and wait for the right opportunity. Thanks again to everyone for the input.. really appreciate you guys taking time out of your day to help me out.

This is horribly lazy research on my part considering I didn't realize this before buying the domain.. but I just found a wetune.ca which is a car tuning auto shop in Canada and a wetune.fm that is a music platform. Neither of these have trademarks for wetune in the US or in Canada. Is it completely legal for me to reach out to each to see if they want to upgrade to .com?

Local Canadian one-off shop isn’t going to want it trademark issue or no trademark issue. You could explore the other .fm one. If you seek free TM advice - search the forums or hope someone with more time will come along. Good luck.

Nice name, I advice to renew it for 2-3 years.
