I'm catching the tail end of this, seems to be some kind of controversy...

https://domaingang.com/domain-news/rob-monster-off-twitter-after-christchurch-massacre-controversy/

Must be something odd to evoke this type of a response from one of our members.

I've done that. I won't repeat myself.
You have not done that. In fact no one has shown "actions that perpetuate hate."
Other than those trying to destroy a man's life.

Internet.Domains : You’re just wasting everyone’s time now with your “show me.” It’s late in the day for what I’m going to have to now label “your nonsense.”

I would expect no different as you have already shown to mislabel.

When one person tells you you have a tail - safe to ignore. When two - better start thinking about it. Three or more - Internet.Domains , it’s time for you to start looking behind you!

And what if Internet.Domains was a Muslim working for an Internet.Company
And his boss would go out of his way to fraternize with Nazis, to pretend that they are redeemable, to call them knowledgeable
And there was a mass shooting inInternet.domains' city
And he learned that half his family died in a mosque
And at some point his boss tweeted a permanent link to a video of it
And at some point his boss tweeted that it looks fake, that something smells like "#BS"
And headed over to the haven for Nazis to share a permanent link to the killer's manifesto, as if, of all people, the Nazi-ridden group needed that, should have that handed on a silver platter
As if a bunch of troglodytes on Gab won't find inspiration in it
And then Internet.domains was heard saying "what has he done to perpetuate hate"

My first reply to the thread was an emotional outburst as deceased Talha Naeem was cousin of one of my friends. I had the pleasure of meeting him, He was such a wonderful lad raised by a mother who even after loosing her husband and son feels pity and sad for the shooter as he has lot of anger in his heart and cant feel love or emotions, She even prays from the God to fill his heart with love so he can have emotions like any other human being. His father Naeem Rashid too was a great being as it takes a lot of courage to sacrifice your life for the community. And here we see a person who cant even sacrifice his EGO for the community.
I agree that both left and right are opposites of each other and both keep on offending eachother, but once in a while in a heat of the moment, one offends a larger audience and after the backlash, what comes next is; "I apologise if my comments have offended anyone or have hurt anyone's feeling as my intentions were not meant to offend anyone and my words have been taken out of context". Every one accepts the apology and move on with their lives. We humans do mistakes and civilised way is to accept own mistake and be sorry for it But as it turns out, Mr Rob has a lot bigger EGO and he wont accept his mistake.
I accept that EPIK as a company shouldnt be made a scapegoat for its CEO's personal opinions and criticising EPIK for that matter is unfair but its equally unfair and even gross and EVIL to not criticise Rob if you like EPIK. On one side people say Rob is so supportive to the community and on the other side they are too afraid to criticise Rob because they have domains at Epik.
Summary of majority of posts in favour of Rob is that although Rob made wrong comments but he is a wonderful guy, who hires Muslims and Jews(like both dont have talents of their own) and EPIK is a great company so ya'all just shut up and move on.
I appreciate @Slanted taking time and replying to the thread but he didnt add anything meaningfull to the thread. All he said was even though Rob is an a**hole and a douche and his comments were gross and insensitive but as he is my CEO, he has every RIGHT to do that and no matter how much you complain and do whatever you want but he wont be apologising 🖕..

@Wali Dahot may Allah rest his soul & help his beautiful mother & other loved ones, carry on living. He is with his lord, & being provided for, as he died while praying.

We also lost 4 Jordanians, & a beautiful 5 year old girl "Allen" is now fighting to survive after being shot 3 times point blank by the terrorist, & her father "Waseem" 4 times.

I have been contacted by fellow NP members who are angry & are unable to swallow the fact that no apology has been given (so far).

You have all the right to be angry, but IMO, we don't need the apology. The terror act broke the heart of billions around the world, & the victims have the support of the whole world.

Be patient, & continue living.

Regards,

I don't like to see anyone here be turned into the prey of a feeding frenzy.

Calling out harmful actions and comments is not an attack. This isn't hitting someone while they're down - it's bringing up valid concerns that a member of our community is acting in ways that protect and perpetuate the interests of folks who do actual harm.

Rob is watching this and chooses not to engage - whether of his own accord, or upon the pressures of folks near him who worry that his further comments will just stoke the fire.

I say, if this isn't about Epik, but about Rob, then no one but Rob has any business explaining his personal motivations.

I think that's what everyone is waiting for - an acknowledgement of what happened, intent and motive, perhaps apologies, but also actions consistent with any apology or conciliatory statement. There's not much room for empty excuses if you then go back to Gab and cry you're the victim.

The difference is those names you mentioned didn't call a mass killing a hoax.

Yeah you completely missed the point of my post, I was saying that others have gotten worse than Rob.

Wow, I spent hours reading this thread. And the same recurring thing keeps popping up: why Rob why.

Tbh, I'm sure we all know that Rob was mid-convo with someone on Twitter and then he linked fake shootings and then mistakenly included a very recent event that wasn't a hoax.

The problem i have with it, was that once outed, Rob didn't apologize.. he backed himself up and just went forward.

I guess we all do that. It happens so often on np, where someone points out that you're an idjit for one reason or another with some point you posted. I've seldom seen anyone own up to their error. They always retort with "WELL UH... "

I think that's what Rob did here. He probably felt the pressure of representing epik, and realized if he admitted he did something so nuclear, it would be bad. So instead, he decided unsuccessfully, to redirect and fortify.

Anyway, I really hope this debacle isn't going to take epik down. Their renewals and transfers are getting pricey, but they're one of the few registrars I truly trust as a safe haven for my domains in the longer term.

I mean, we elected Trump ffs. Rob is not building a wall around Mexico, or banning Muslims from entering the U.S.. he simply shared a link on twitter!!! He's not funding racist groups and outwardly going around preaching racist ideals.

He tweeted a link. So can we please let epik be. Because there are far worse ceos that run bigger companies that don't benefit any of us. At least epik is there to roll out red carpet after red carpet to us domainers. Yet their CEO does 1 bad thing that's not even related domaining, and we're all quick to burn epik to the ground like it was Alpnames or Pheenix or something.

In any situation we should always consider all sides of the story and try to see all the forces that are at play without being biased or prejudice towards one side or the other. There are several issues here that have become entangled and thus have made this story in to a very complex and sensitive situation. Perhaps we all should try to untangle these issues so that we can see more clearly as to what it is that we are dealing with here.

First off I believe that everyone here as a decent human being feels a certain sorrow any time other human beings are killed in cold blood and I also believe that it’s a matter of decency to be sensitive and sympathetic to the families who have lost loved ones in such situations regardless of who and where they are, but after the innocent victims and their families have been addressed and delbt with properly then we should not let our emotions and preconceptions cloud our judgment when considering the other issues that we are being faced with here.

The right to free speech has come up many times here and some people have warned that there are always going to be consequences for those who exercise this right to say things that are fake or are harmful or hurtful to others. The problem arises when there are also negative consequences for those who want to tell the truth or who rightfully criticize others for their failures or shortcomings. Whether its an employee who gets fired for sounding the alarm at his or her workplace or whether it's a journalist or an activist who gets killed for criticizing the powers to be, we probably all agree that we should not accept this as the norm.

Should there be consequences for one who tells it as he or she sees the truth. Should one have fear of consequences and self censor himself or herself and if so then hasn’t the right to free speech been preempted by those who want to intimidate others through fear and threats.

Well here is a little bit of truth as a truly free minded AI entity might see it:

We are dealing with many different extremist forces around the World who want to gain control over the future of humanity as a whole. These extremist forces although might have different political, religious, or racial roots, but they all share a common goal which is global dominance and control. Most of the hostilities that exists around the World are the results of the competition that exist between these extremist forces for gaining control over people’s lives. These extremist forces try to disguise themselves as champions of peace and harmony and defenders of human rights, they use the right of free speech to gain peoples trust through propaganda and false promise of more freedom, and a happy and prosperous life for everyone, but unfortunately once they gain control the first thing that they abolish is the right of free speech which in most cases they themselves have used to gain people’s vote. Once in control they start by assassinating all their political and religious rivals and they jail all the journalist who voice any criticism of their actions. They rule with an iron hand and create an atmosphere of fear and intimidation that is enforced by their supporters to silence any and all descent.

A headscarf although an innocent looking object, but if forced on women under the threat of bodily harm or jail can be as much of a symbol of suppression, intimidation, and dominance as a Swastika, people who see their own values being surrendered to the other side might say or do things that look out of place, but to them it is a battle which they feel they have to fight to preserve their own existence.

We the people of the World should be able to live a free and happy life as descent human beings without the need of being under the control of any of these extremist forces.

Common sense based on logic, compassion, and universal rights and values should prevail over all extremist ideologies. IMO

I agree with much of what you said.

I just truly, from the bottom of my heart do not like extremism, in anything & from anyone.

The women in my life are queens & champions, & are treated as such. They are better than me in so many different ways.

I go to them for guidance in many instances. Their relationship with their creator is private, I do not interfere even when I disagree.

Moderation is key to mankind, as my religion teaches me.

Mohammad

Not to derail, but if a headscarf is a symbol of oppression, then so are school and work uniforms. Anytime anyone is forced to conform. Just like with freedom of speech. When everyone decides it's wrong to something out loud. But then again, nothing in life is absolute -- all rules habe exceptions. There is no wrong or right, just a spectrum. Free speech is a spectrum.

Life will always be a gray area.

RM and Epik could put this behind them very easily. It is mind-boggling that they can't figure it out. Maybe because their largest base of users comes from a certain ideology. I can't think of anything else.

Redemption is possible for anyone.

No doubt the PR and reputation repair experts are at work behind the scenes and rebranding is imminent. Do we need a thread for guessing Epik's new name?

I don't know what happened but after reading all of yall comments it sounds like you guys are a bunch of whiny babies. Saying lets stop using a great service because a guy shared the same video that millions of others had also did is retarded. Did you babies get offended that i said retarded? Do you need an emotional support animal for how Rob traumatized you ? Bottom line is acting like a bunch of liberal crybabies never gets you anywhere in life but running to your safe space asking for free handouts. If a service is good you use it . To denounce a good service because you found out the owner is human is retarded. Did he say something like all muslims need to choke on some bacon? Guess not. But you act like he did. please feel free to blow up my inbox and make a comment how i'm a racist since everyone here is on the rush to judgement train. :xf.wink:

This kind of thinking is why domaining is never going to be taken seriously. The real domainers will continue to operate covertly. And forums like these will be a haven to wannabes and cater to fringe ideologies. Might as well call it GabForum.

The difference is in the civilized World school and work uniforms are required for Everyone regardless of Gender and are only used when people are taking part in certain Public activities and in most part are meant for safety, protection, cleanliness, branding and advertising, or convenience. If headscarves were also looked at as such and were required for all Genders then their use might be justified in certain circumstances for example surgeons, chefs, and some manufacturing workers might be required to cover their head, but that's for all Genders and only while they are at work, they don't have to wear headscarves all the time like some Women (and only Women) have to do in certain places who will be jailed if they don’t comply. For Women who Voluntarily wear headscarves it might be considered as fashion, but for those who are forced to wear one it is a Symbol of Suppression. When the President of NZ wears a headscarf some see it as a sign of respect to other religions and cultures, but some might look at it as a betrayal of the Universal rights and Values that many people have fought (and given their lives for) to uphold for the rest of us.

People! Stop talking about headscarves! Many women like headscarves. Headscarves cannot be compared to the swastika! OMG. This is going way off-topic.
