Registering trademark names is frowned upon in this industry and wont do much for your reputation on namepros. Nobody will buy this name from you, its best to delete it to avoid any risks. Why take the risk for a worthless name that cost $20?

Prime example of Cybersquatting. Generally when 'Cybersquatters' ask 'Domainers' for advice on their TM names, the results aren't pretty.

Completely agree!

I had some of those in my beginning days ...TM etc...i dropped them right away when I got info from my uncle (lawyer in TM and Copyrights).

I would literally just drop it out of my portfolio. But again that's just me

Good luck !

its worthless drop it
How is it worthless?

The type-in traffic should be fairly high with it being 1 letter off from the .com

Just park the domain and blacklist video game ads to appear. Their cybersquatting Case would be hard to prove without video game content.

setting up a website with a trademarked name is immoral and illegal - you are trying to profit from another companies brand, the example you have given @domainguy50 should not be so flippantly given without any legal context

The OP should drop the name - it's that simple

Trademark Protection

A trademark protects "words, names, symbols, sounds or colours that distinguish goods and services from those manufactured or sold by others and to indicate the source of the goods."

This means that a company can register a trademark for its business name, slogans, logos and other items that essentially brand the product or company.

Registering a trademark first requires doing a trademark search to ensure it's not already in use. Because of the legal ramifications, most trademark experts recommend using an attorney to assist in trademark registration.

the above was taken from:

or you can check wikipedia and loads of other sites to get an idea on copyright and trademarks

better yet - speak to a lawyer

I’m well aware of what a trademark is. The problem is that the trademark owner of fortnite video game do not own the letters of the alphabet. How do you know, for example, that the OPs website isn’t named “for tnite” (a play on words of “for tonight”)? If it has no video game content, how can it be violating a trademark where the trademark is categorized for an electronic video game?

Did you not learn anything from Nissan(.)com? Try going to that website, then come back to apologize

Read my latest post directly above this one. Remember Nissan(.)com? How did that trademark work out for Nissan car company?

so @domainguy50 I assume you are quoting the below case which involved a very different set of facts to this thread and the OP's reasoning behind registering the name in question

your original post recommended the OP to create a site using the fortnite name for listing video game ad's ??

https://jalopnik.com/uzi-nissan-spent-8-years-fighting-the-car-company-with-1822815832

How is this comparable?

You obviously have a low moral threshold and are looking for ways to exploit the system so I will not be commenting on this thread again and will not be responding to any further comments from you

So how did Nissan.com or SlutsofInstagram.com get away with it? The latter even got a threatening letter from IG years ago and he “played stupid”

Fortnite or it’s maker do not own the letters of alphabet

and this phrase alone justifies my comment. Just forget about Nissan for 1 second and look at the 1000's of other cases that happen every year.

I heard it costs $1200 just to file a UDRP request to take a domain by force and that if OP sells for less than $1200, it would be easier and less costly for Epic Games to just buy the domain from him instead of taking it by force because Epic would have to pay more to take it by force. Right?
