Do you think this can lead to sales?

What are the pros and cons?

Also, has anyone done this before and what was your experience?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Why? Seems like to me it would be distracting from the fact that the specific domain is available/for sale.
Why not use a domain specific landing page?

I forward the short and long versions of my legal name .com to my linkedin page as a resume, but to sell a domain, I wouldn't.

I'm interested in hearing your line of thought on why that would be beneficial to sell your domains?

Forward domain to Facebook instead of a default registrar lander, smart.

Forward domain to Facebook instead of a marketplace lander, not so smart.

I have received numerous domain inquiries through facebook. Recently I received a 3k offer for a domain i own and i didn't even list the domain on facebook so i didn't even know how they found me. Buyers won't know all your domains are forwarded to facebook. They want a domain and it just goes to someones personal facebook. It's then natural to assume this person owns the name and it's easy to get intouch. They may even feel more comfortable and not expect to hear 100k.. You get to know the buyer too. It takes away complication and hiding.

I made a purchase for a facebook page related to my domain and the communication was so easy. I didn't have to look through ads, or find an email or hope my email went through. I guess it feels like a subtle way to sell without coming off as domain squatter(not that i believe in that). The person came at me even though i didn't have a for sale banner. and they raised their offer easily... because I have the upper hand... not giving the intent that I'm hoping to sell anything. So they come serious. There is some psychology to indirect selling. Though i would not point all types of names to my page.

A buyer wants a name....it leads them straight to the owner. Can't get much easier. the only thing easier is a straight forward buy now on a name, with immediate checkout.

Only a test would tell. lol

It also doesn't stop selling the name on afternic etc...

@Rory Ivey interesting question. I can see the advantages from a trust/familiarity point of view but a dedicated for sale lander with a prominent link to FB/LinkedIn would be better imo.

Agreed, I like outside the box thinking though and sound logic!

The impression I get is that you are no more in business and now communicating only with your facebook page. When a website routes me to FB page I feel that way.

Is redirecting the for sale domains to personal Facebook and LinkedIn pages a thing?

What about redirecting to the twitter page that we use strictly for selling domains? Everyone has a twitter and DMs can be open for public. A bit unprofessional you think?

Can you just forward to your LinkedIn page?

This would get the same desired result but would go to your "professional" profile. You could include on your profile that you buy and sell domains, are open to offers, the benefits etc etc.

I personally would not do this (prefer landers) but if I was to choose I would prefer the LinkedIn route....

sounds interesting
but domains redirected to facebook
to me at least have looked amateurish
or even worse more or less out of usage

The idea is not to look like you're selling.
A buyer will simply see that you must own this name and get in-touch easily.
It's a kind of weird Psychology
I've been to pages trying to purchase a domain and the pages had no contact..just weird chinese writings. Translation didn't help. But all that mattered to me was finding a way to contact the owner.

I didn't care about a sale banner, or how fancy the page looked or whther it was dedicated or not.
I actually felt better with the possibility that i wasn't dealing with a domainer.

I would not put all names on facebook. Some names just need a quick buy now price etc...
But sometimes unorthodox, ways work.

But it's just a thought. It has to be tested.
At the end of the day; it's whatever works for you and whatever brings sales.
