I received the following email today. It is a simple twist on the old appraisal scam. Don't be scammed!

Hello

My name is Lisa. I work for SMD which is a Domain Brokerage Firm in Scottsdale Arizona. Your domain name: ******.us came up on my list of domain names that were recently registered and it could possibly have some value to it. I wanted to inquire if you would be interested in selling your domain name to us?

If you are interested can you fill out this form and I can reach out and give you a specified dollar amount for your domain name: Click Here

If you aren't interested you can click here and I will remove you from our future mailing/purchase attempts and we won't bother you again.

I received four over the last two days, but they went straight to spam so I didn't see them until now when I happen to look after reading this post. NamePros is pretty awesome just for the general and informed conversations that goes on here. I usually forward my spam to the government and usually it will stop. USUALLY. Just do this...

Forward email to: [email protected]

Subject: I Am Reporting A Spammer

Description: To whom it may concern,
I am reporting a spammer...

Then send!

I learned it from The Kim Komando Show. She's great!

Hello if you guys are receiving emails from HPserver.us or SellMyDomain.com regarding domain appraisal please delete it. Our account was hijacked by someone who also managed to gain access to our amazon account. Were trying to resolve the issue now... I apologize if you received an email.

Just got this offer today and the same long reply when I asked how much is the offer.

I was excited at first but when I received the reply, it just looked totally suspicious, so I went straight ahead here in Namepros.

Thank you guys! :D

This answered my question. I got an offer from Yoshihiko Kawanaka, a "Personal Broker", from Heteml. The offer seemed too good to be true. Apparently it is.

One thing to note is that the email I received comes from heteml-jp.info, which was registered only a month ago. Very scammy.

What a shame. I was looking forward to selling my 6L.com domain for $XX,XXX after owning it for a week. :xf.smile:

Thank God I saw this! This fraudster must be stopped! I received an offer on behalf of his client. And he sent me links that seemed legitimate and led me to other pages including a certification and valuation page which you had to pay for but when he told me about the bidding on the third party site for his client something seemed suspicious. He went by this name in emails to me:

Yoshihiko Kawanaka

Vice President

Investor Relations

Heteml ltd.

Hosting Company

Tokyo, Japan

If anyone can shed more light on this I would be very grateful!

I got an email looking for one of my domains. I was happy until I googled address and found it was from Arizona. It turned out to be a scam. I think it was from scottsdale. I deleted it shortly after so I forget.

Everyone can report the trademark infringement to Google - be aware that Google will know if you are already logged in and auto fill your Name and Email, don't let that freak you out!

The domain in some of the above scams being used is answersgoogle org and if you type it in without the full link it redirects to the now defunct http://answers.google (dot) com/answers/
[links broken on purpose]

The page to report them to google is https://support.google.com/websearch/contact/g_trademark

You can do this for any domain that is infringing on the google trademark

Apparently the source of these email scams is still at it.

I have a theory that they are using Flippa to let their fingers do the walking, based upon the name and the offer. Had placed a strong .net name for auction over at Flippa with a reserve equal to the offer amount.

Amazing coincidence, right?

old thread but these spam emails are back.

I received multiple emails offering me 15 BTC for a domain name that I clearly don't own.

I just replied him with link to this thread. :D

Hello!

I represent an investor from Japan who wants to buy domain.com for a new web project.

Is your domain still available for acquisition?

The buyer is a professional investor with 1 BTC - 30 BTC per domain budget.

He may also pay in Litecoin or Ethereum.

Do you have a Bitcoin wallet? If not use Jaxx or type in Google "Bitcoin wallet".

If you have more names please email me the list. I may help you to find investors for them.

Regards,

Yoshihiko Kobayashi
