Why is Who.is saying my domain is available?

I am the owner of SkylineLodge.com and the Who.is always showed my contact information, that is until today when I checked and it says the .com domain is available for $545 through their advertised registrar. I doubled checked my portfolio to make sure the domain is still there and I still have full control. It's really inconvenient because I was getting ready to do a sale, but now I believe they think I'm trying to pull a scam on them. The domain is registered up until the end of next year. Any ideas?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
You need to point your domain to a page you control. Do you have a hosting account?

The domain doesnt show for sale price now when i checked.

Not sure what else i can tell you.

I do see what you mean though. Dynadot shows it for sale for 500.

Maybe you had it for sale at some point?

He is using who.is. It does show it for sale. I wouldn't worry about it. It's just an old affiliation listing thats still in the system from the previous owner.

Similar thing happens with a few domains of mine which I once had with a BIN pricing with Afternic (but not anymore).

Thanks for the replies! Only thing that still baffles me is the fact I have the ability to register the domain at a few different registrars.

It would end up failing. No one can register the domain, because it is yours.

what is happening is that someone had listed it for sale before you owned it or you listed it for sale at Sedo/Godaddy whatever,

Some of these marketplaces share their listings with other registrars so that when someone makes a search with let's say Enom the marketplaces listings show up being listed for sale and can be bought directly from the registrar. Who.is is automatically checking with a registrar and they send you back the listing information.

It can not be registered with them, only bought. If someone tried to buy it it would fail of course.

Various whois pages are sometimes inaccurate, so I don't know why you'd worry about any except the Whois page of your own registrar. You'd better get on the phone with NetworkSolutions and tell them to take that off your whois page, immediately.

It's not even showing my contact information

Try whois.domaintools.com. You will see all your info there.
Who.is has gone downhill recently.

It looks like this isn't resolved yet. If I were you, I would:

1. Log into your account, and take a screenshot inside your NetworkSolutions account showing that the domain is there.
2. Take screenshots of the Whois page at https://whois.icann.org/en, and the Whois page at Network Solutions (where your contact info isn't showing), and also the Whois at Godaddy for your domain.
3. Write an email to NetworkSolutions about the problem; be polite and point out the error. Request that it be corrected as soon as possible. Attach all the screenshots.
4. Also get on the phone to NetSol and tell them of the problem, saying you're sending them an email outlining it all, ask for help, and get the person's name you speak to. Write the name down with the time/date you talked to him or her.

That should cover all bases. You've preserved information visible online, and gotten the problem on the record with your registrar by emailing. Keep contacting them if they don't solve it right away. I don't see why they can't, actually.

Your own registrar is the one you should be able to expect an accurate Whois page from. Other Whois services may lag behind.
