report Attempted domain theft ?

NameSilo
Watch
on saturday night ( prime time for domain theft ) i got an email all in russian that read ( after translation )

-----
GoDaddy received a request from Dmitry Volkov by [email protected] of 14 May 2016 on the transfer of registration records under our control.

You received this message because you are the owner of a registered trade mark or the administrative contact for the domain name. If you are not the owner of the domain, or transfer to a new owner, please forward this communication to the owner of the account, to complete the transfer process.

-----

( there is more on this email like the security key - the domain name and what to do the transfer the domain to godaddy.com )

i never ever use godaddy.com for anything ( in the past 15 years ) as they did me wrong a very long time ago .

i emailed the person to stop trying to steal my domain and i get a very nasty email back the he bought i at godaddy as it was listed for sale there . ( i never ever list anything at godaddy.com EVER )

he also said that he supposibly already paid for the domain at godaddy.com .

question : if his story where true , should i have not gotten any email from godaddy that the domain is sold and that the buyer paid for it ?

remember i did not list any domain at godaddy.com and i did not get any email from godaddy other than the transfer request - which also does not say anything about the domain being sold or been paid for .

there is not whois protect on that domain and the domain name was listed during that time on this forum ...

what do you think ?

@wolfis.com Multiple people already proved the buyer is real. All the buyer has done(besides be rude to you) is buy domains off GD and ask for the transfer codes.

The buyer also asked me for the transfer codes BEFORE GD approved the payment... I simply told the buyer he will need to wait till GD approves payment. His exact response: "OK".

So please consider you are dragging an honest persons name through the mud simply because you can't grasp the fact that: YOUR DOMAINS WERE LISTED FOR SALE ON GD BEFORE YOU OWNED THEM.

Put yourself in the buyers shoes... lets say you paid for domains at GoDaddy and asked for the transfer codes... The domain owner tells you that they are not for sale and it is a mistake.... Suddenly you see YOUR name on a public forum claiming thief and scam.... How would you feel??
Yes, I completely agree with you. Very unlucky for Dmitry to deal with this. All people here understand the situation, only one don't want to understand it and make it to be serious by his own way

He stated calling me every name in the book and was very nasty and for me this is not resolved .. I will not be treated that way from nobody and if people don't know how to behave and how to do business the right way nothing will change !

I was don't wrong by him period !!

It is his turn to apologize and I will try to remove the name and email ... It is that simple !

Wow! You even stated: "if people don't know how to behave and how to do business the right way"

You tried to warn the community about his actions... But ironically the community is more worried about YOUR actions....You think that two wrongs make a right?? (IMO your doing much worse)

PS.... all of his recent payments on GD have cleared in my account. And if your domains were listed by you(which they were not) you would have been paid too.

And now you and everyone else says it's ok to send transfer requests to some stranger and if he refuses getting nasty and when I try to find out if it is legit I am the bad guy ... If you put yourself in HIS shoes... you would understand. I agree with you that him calling you names is not right! But besides that... he has done nothing wrong.

Imagine if you discovered someone was dragging your name through the mud simply because you tried to buy domains off GoDaddy!

Him calling you names in private (because he paid for domains and you won't/SHOUNDN'T send) is wrong.

You publicly calling him a scammer and thief and insisting when we have all explained what happened is wrong.

Which is worse?

Again .. You did not read the whole post ... I was asking if this guy is real and told my story of what happened and exactly what happened ... I did not post he in fact stole nor did I call him in this tread a thief ... All I was asking is information and if you would have actually read all the replies after my original post you would actually realize that several people including the godaddy rep did think in fact that it was a scam .

So again read everything before making me the bad guy or did never anybody tell you to read the whole story to accuse people of doing wrong ... If no one ever told you that you are in bad shape ... First read the whole info and not just the parts you like !!

@wolfis, you received a transfer request from GoDaddy and emailed the "buyer" accusing him of trying to steal your domain.

If you are a buyer and received an email from the "seller" accusing you for trying to steal, and then start a forum thread with your name and email address questioning was it a thief attempt, how would you feel and / or react?

@The rest who have notifications that funds are good, have you emailed the auth code and any transfer initiated?

Yes GD has informed me all the payments had been verified. And most of the domains he bought have been plucked out of my GD account already, and the other domains I have sent the transfer codes.

Buyer is a legit business man.

If you would bother to read all tof the beginning it clearly states that the godaddy rep stated that the emails are not from godaddy and they are fake !!

Does anyone here actually read all of the beginning or does now everyone has just their opinion and thinks he/she must post it ... No matter if it right or wrong ?

What part of read everything first before you post is difficult to understand here ???????

Yes, we read the whole thread (unlike you) including the beginning part.

Joe Styler (GD rep) said:

This is a scam do not reply to them. We would not send this type of email. Also any sales for your domains can be seen by logging into your GoDaddy account or going to auctions.godaddy.com and checking under your "sold" section it will list all the information you need and have a link to contact the buyer. Do not respond to emails like the one you say you have received.

Yes you should contact people inside your account using the sold section of your auctions.godaddy.com account. It is very possible that you sold the domain name and the buyer is overanxious but you should always wait for the word from GoDaddy before moving any domains. Also it is best to use the links inside the sold section to contact the buyer after we clear the funds. You don't want a domain to sell, we don't ok the funds because they are bad and you move the domain before we give you the ok to move it. We only do that after we are sure the money is real.

There are some real sales in the thread. Please check your auctions account and make sure the names are in your sold section and then wait for the funds to clear. When the money is cleared we know the funds are good and then you get a link in your sold section to contact the buyer and move the domain. If the domain name is already at GoDaddy the name will auto move to the buyer as soon as the funds clear. If you do not think you sold a domain double check your sold section at auctions.godaddy.com or contact auctions support for further help.

No not unless someone gives me a specific domain name and their account details etc. However, going from what he said which is he received an email asking him to move a domain he had not listed for sale and seeing that the email he received is not from us then it would appear to be very suspicious. As I have stated throughout the thread finding out for sure is easy enough by logging in and checking your account as you have done. Either way I would wait for the official notification from GoDaddy that it is ok to move the domain before doing so.

@wolfis.com Why don't you understand that everyone here has logged in to their GD account and CONFIRMED the sales are REAL! However, your domains were listed by the previous domain owner.. So your sales are not real. End of story.

Stop dragging his name through the mud! But thank you for showing your true colors.. I have put you on my list of people to never associate with.

Cheers!

Cool. After reading all this I feel better about his contact though it was probably a mix up because I haven't sold any Domains through Godaddy as of yet. A few on Afternic last week (LLL.biz) but I may ask him if he wants my last one, LUQ.biz now that I know you guys have had pleasant dealings with Dmitry.
Very cool, I love namepros, you guys come out of the woodwork to let people know exactly what's going on. Very respectable.

I've never used one of the marketplaces specifically for their escrow service though..Sedo/Godaddy/Flippa- is there a best choice of them for a simple deal? I know sedo charges a % if that names currently listed there I beleive.. I've either been paypal'd the money and trusted to transfer or random purchase on a marketplace so far.

GoDaddy authorized the transfer of all of the domain names which Dmitry purchased from us, through GoDaddy. All have been transferred to Dmitry.

Payment was lightning fast, communication was exceptional. Dmitry is now one of our preferred customers.

Looks like an over-active domain buyer. He has more than 10,000 domains although quality seems to be lacking a lot ;) Just do as @Joe Styler said and wait for notifications from GoDaddy.

Hmm, must be big company, if they can afford office in this building, right next to VTB and Moscow major.

Thank for your information @djum. I have sold over $ 10,000 of sales from Dmitry. But now it seems he doesn't buy any more.
