Pheenix sent out an email today that highlights some new changes:

Dear Friend,

It’s been a long time since we have last given you an update on Pheenix. We’ve been quietly working hard to make Pheenix the best Domain Backordering Platform on the planet!

Here are some great new things that we have just completed.

1.500% increase in domain registrars.

Yes that’s right. We have increased the number of registrars that we use to backorder domain names by 500%!

More registrars means we are catching a ton of more great domains for you.

2.New Super Saver pricing plan.

Besides our ‘Gold’ backorders that you have come to love and enjoy, we now have a new domain backordering pricing plan: Super Saver backorders.

Super Saver backorders allow you to pay for backorders at a reduced price point of $13.99/domain. Keep in mind that Gold backorders take priority over a Super Saver backorder.. so for example if one customer has a Gold backorder and another has a Super Saver backorder on it, then the customer with the Gold backorder will win the domain.

Super Saver backorders gives a great option for customers who backorder domains that have little to no competition or for domains with a lower price point in value.

In order to qualify to add Super Saver backorders, you need to have at least 1000 Pheenix Points in your account.

3.New pricing for ‘Gold’ backorders.

Beginning September 15, 2015, pricing for Gold backorders for com/net/org will increase to $21.99. This is substantially lower than our competitors pricing which is more than double our price.

We continue to offer great value for our customers.

Thanks for being a great customer and we’ll have more good news coming very soon.

They caught Chivalry.com the other day. I'm sure they had big competition for that one.

Ive had good luck with them this week. Today however will be the big test for me with 8 or 9 names on the list. Still for $20 I am really pleased with the new and improved Pheenix!

I will definitely have to give them another try, I like the cheap and expensive backorder options just like dropcatch has.

Pheenix did catch a LLLL.com today. One out of 5 or six, not great but better than I had expected. When you consider the price, I'm satisfied.

That is an awsome catch....

1 of 5 LLLL's today too. So again, better than I expected. But lots of competition at auction, even more than NameJet it seems.

Yeah a lot of competition for LAKJ.com. Think ill pass on bidding on this one as sometimes when there are a lot of bidders it can sell for a lot more than what it is worth. I notice there was 45 of us who had it on backorder.

Pheenix has been great for catching some good names recently especially if you do your homework. I've had some good catches with trending or specific niche domains. I've caught some good names recently as it comes in waves some weeks hardly anything and other weeks I get a nice surprise.

Yeah I was surprised at the competition for this and have already dropped out. I was thinking the LA part might be useful for Los Angeles so maybe that's driving it up.

Yeah I think you're right with the LA part and .com is always king!

Yes, they are doing a great job with - lets face it - <200 registrars, which is not much (if comparing with others). I'd never expect to see pheenix beating dropcatch/nj/snap on so many occasions, including but not limited to those listed in this thread. Which means that a number of registrars - even though is important - is not all. Good programming skills are also important...

It adds one more criteria to call Pheenix the most reputable dropcatcher. They also always respected their customers by not publishing "most active pre-orders" lists, they do not run open auctions with the inventory based on customers cumulative knowledge, they do not allow domains to be unpaid for a long time (so if in this forum for example I (more-or-less frequently) see "domainers" trying to sell what they recently won but did not yet pay for - and whois + auction history clearly proves this - then the unpaid domain-for-sale is not regged with pheenix). Etc, etc, etc.

I have never seen this, but then I never looked either. have you seen people selling names on here that are not regged? I'll have to watch that.

I was tracking a pendingdelete name. Catched by snapnames. The auction winner listed it for sale on this forum before they paid to snapnames. I did not bother to constantly track it - but after 1 week the domain was still "pending payment" as per my auction history and whois was empty. Furthermore, the seller on this forum promised "fast delivery" even though the domain registrar does not even offer normal account setup which is supposed to be done to receive a push (it was mydomain.com where a new customer can set only a hosting account, selecting a hosting plan and paying for it). Even though setting a free account may well be possible through support - a claim of "fast delivery" is somewhat questionable in this case, also taking in account that the seller first needs to pay snapnames and wait for domain delivery to their mydomain account

From my watchlist for todays drop, about 20 names:

Pheenix got 50%
SnapNames got 35%
Dropcatch got 15%
NameJet/Dynadot/GoDaddy 0%

While I did not backorder all 100% domains with all dropcatchers, it appears that most if not all had snapnames/nj backorders (as the number of bidders prompts where I participate) AND that all should have been queued for catching by Dropcatch if not to fullfill customers backorders then for Hugedomains.

WTG pheenix :)
