You're welcome Keith. I think ShapelyChic is your best name in the bunch. I would definitely put that up on a few other marketplaces like GD.

Hey, Keith,

I'm not sure what companies would purchase babyfuzz, netrapy, or regenlift. For the others, the keywords for the most part are right, but they just don't go together. If MemoryID was MemoryIQ, then you would have something. Or if UpStartSmart was StartupSmart or SmartStartup, you would have a very nice name.

TabletWizard is a little too product oriented. I'm guessing you own ShapelyChic and not ShapleyChic. This is a nice name that does have some enduser potential, but it just doesn't sound very modern to me. I think shapely kind of has negative connotations when you are talking about fitness or weight loss.

Hopefully that helps.

Hi all!

Interesting discussion!

I went from a 1/2 accept ratio with my first submissions to about 1/15 this time around. I don't feel my eye for names is off in any other direction.

The reason I dedicate some time listing at BB is that I tried listing 5 handregs. I sold one for like 3k in a couple of weeks. That is inspiring.

I would like to showcase my recent rejects too, and maybe get some feedback from the seasoned veterans. Some I get, some I don't. Some sellers have similar names just listed in the BB "new" email.

I don't like the suffix, ific. To me it sounds cheap and insubstantial, like a kids toy name or something. But...... I have noticed some listings on BB with that suffix so I've submitted some. One was Loanific which was rejected (I'm thinking it was too narrow an application and not a good fit for the financial industry). Then I had Furific accepted at $1495 and this week Cyberific at $4095. So obviously the root word is crucial but also both Fur and Cyber end in R and give a flavor of the word terrific. This may (or may not) give you some insights on your rejected names: Hackific and Gasific.

PS the names I like best on your list are: DistriBot and FlipSheet. I'm not sure of the business applications but I like the sound and feel of both of those.

I don't like it either. But it's researched for these root words. For example "Gasification" is the process of extracting gas from biomass. Hence "gasific".

For the other names I did not use "ific" but "ic" as the suffix, which in my book is a common and credible suffix. An adjectivisation really.

And I agree on the feeling that h a c k i f i c is missing something.

90% of the time I think "ific" only works with the R. "Hackrific / Hackerific" both sound better than Hackific (the R softens the sound otherwise its a bit of a mouthful) although I can't say if they would be accepted either. Flincha and Priveus are nice imo but I think people would have a little trouble with spelling them, if they were Flincher and Privius they would have a better chance, but alas they are taken. Thanks for posting your rejects and the nice discussions in this thread.

Hi,

I would say that marketlicious and travelersity are just too much of a mouthful and difficult to spell. ExcelStartup and InventorFund just don't quite make sense together. I don't see many companies using "excel" or "inventor" in their business names.

I would definitely put up PreciousCloud on GD premium. It isn't great, but you might be able to get around $500 for it.

Thank you very much Michael for your insight :)

I hate the rific suffix. When I heard of Namerific I thought to myself what were they thinking. People can't even spell terrific, or is it terific, or teriffic, I can't even remember that's how much it sucks.

Thanks Michael and yes I do own ShapelyChic not the misspelled version I've typed twice in my prior posts. How embarrassing. I hope the avg consumer is a better speller than me.

Yea, congrats to BB on the big sale. I think that is a really good sign for all of us. It shows an expansion of BB as a marketplace and hopefully an expansion of their reputation as a place to go for premium quality brandables on par with the brandable offerings at the big marketplaces like Namejet etc. Congrats to BB and the seller!

On another note............ When I got the BB new listings email this week I saw the BioRemedy listing and thought: great name! Then I went to the listing to see the price and found that it was sold! Congrats to the owner of that sale too! Anyone know what price it was listed for ?

HappyName.com is a free tool that might be of value to some domainers. You enter a domain name and it will tell you if its available to register, check for trademark issues and check availability of FB and Twitter accts, all in one click.

On another note........ month ago I came across a web site that would auto check your domain and list all the places on the web where the domain is for sale. But.... I lost it. Does anyone know this website? I often see names on BB that are listed in other locations (Afternic, Sedo etc) for less money and this undermines the sale. Sometimes its a listing from a previous owner etc. Conversely, if you are thinking to buy a domain you can easily see which marketplace has it listed at the lowest price. Anyone know this web tool?

Sometimes I have to remind myself what a good keyword brandable looks like:

flyawaywithme.com 2,200 USD 2014-04-30 GoDaddy
codegeek.com 2,691 USD 2015-05-14 BuyDomains
wordgenius.com 1,101 USD 2015-03-21 NameJet
princesspictures.com 11,000 USD 2014-06-18 GoDaddy
ondisk.com 2,500 USD 2015-03-09 Sedo
cloudmasters.com 11,880 USD 2014-06-18 Sedo
urbanrise.com 2,250 USD 2015-03-03 Sedo

PS these are NOT my names :)

We have to look at this angle as well as to what will happen in future. There is only one way for inventory to go. More names are being added by sellers or BB itself than what are sold.

BB has close to 12 thousand names. Their search is based on categories and is not text search (like exact, containing) - and it is not supposed to be as it is not applicable to brandable names. One brandable name can fit into multiple categories.

With time, it will become more difficult for the buyer to 'reach' your name. It is not like auctions, where name gets attention when other people are bidding on it or it is getting closer to the closing time. As a buyer, how many names can you really review before giving up. I would suggest every seller should try to make a test search and have first hand experience of buying at BB.
