How good is NameSilo?

I don't see why not transfer/reg a domain there and try them out. ICANN accredited, straight and aggressive pricing, looks like most features you'd want are there free (minus email forwarding?) and, bonus, API for everyone. I know I will try them out in the very near future.

Company wants domain name currently pointing to fan site for their product.

For what it's worth, I agree with johname. Negotiate the sale of the 4L and that should help you determine for certain what their true intentions are with minimal risk (at least that's how I see it).

Am I wrong?

I said yes. Malls are a relatively safe place. You never stated your concerns though.

Death of domain forums - Losing posters to blogs

Typical domainer mentality. It's about the community that thrives on the owner's forum. It's about something called "sharing", which you obviously know little about. All you see is "content on a domain". PS. If one of the harddrives of the server np is on crashes, who pays the bill?

Netfirms crazy idiots

I know exactly what happened.. They send the confirmation email to your paypal email!! It sucks. I know. I was angry too when I saw that email NOT in my primary email box a few days later (existing customer as well) and almost lost a few domains too.

Why so expensive??

This price is not silly at all. In fact an agent makes that in 1 or 2 sale and there are thousands of them.

Register.com Domain Codes

Please transfer away from them well in advance. They have to email you the EPP code and it could take DAYS and that's if they don't ask you for various documentation for "security" reasons.

DNS with GoDaddy, Namecheap or private, which is better ?

^ avoid hosting your dns with your hosting provider!! For the same reason you don't get your domain from your host even if it's free.. The main thing to consider when it comes down to dns is you want to have redundancy. Check the IP's of all of your DNS servers. Are they all pointing to the...

Web freedom faces greatest threat ever!

The comments above attacking google are so funny and extremely naive. He's talking about how censorship and proprietary systems are ruining the internet. Tell me which part of that isn't true!
