Thanks. Baxter helped explain how the process worked, and it's possible that it was transferred to another registrar while in redemption. That was the part that i was confused about because i watched the domain before and after it expired. It was in redemption period and then 1 month later it...

well the thing is... i've been watching some .ca domains that are nearing expiry (and even after it expired), and then i check on it from time to time. Take this for example: Domain status: registered Creation date: 2006/01/05 Expiry date: 2012/01/05 Updated date...

I always thought that .ca's go straight to pending delete if the owner does not re-new within the redemption period. But I keep seeing this "Ed Hew" snatching up .ca's during redemption period when the domain belonged to another owner. Can someone chime in?

Are there extra fees for winning a pre-release?

ok thanks for the replies.... i just found it odd that some good names don't get snatched during pre-release, and then when it goes to pending delete, everyone just jumps on it. I thought people were avoiding some fee or something LOL.

Sometimes i see a domain auctioned for pre-release on Namejet and nobody bids on it. Then when it's re-auctioned pending delete then everyone will bid on it. Wouldn't it be better to bid on it during pre-release to retain the old age of the domain? Am i missing something here or are there...

.biz .biz release dates?

I see a .biz domain expired on Sept 30 but domaintools.com has been showing it as "on-hold pending delete" for a week now. Does anybody know if it follows the same rules as .com's?

how quick do they process it if you have all your proof/documentation that verifies your info? Where do you suggest transferring them to?

Their annual .com renewals are expensive! $34/year. What do you guys do now? Do you keep it registered there for like 11months and push it out to a cheaper registrar such as GoDaddy before it has to be renewed? Or are there discount/promo codes for eNom?

Namejet hasn't even secured the domain yet, but there were several bidders on a domain so it pushed the pending deletion domain into an auction. But this isn't even a Namejet exclusive domain so what's the purpose of this? To see who can pay the most just to secure the first spot if they do...

i want to use them, but at the same time i don't like how they want to charge you first and refund later if the backorder was unsuccessful. It's basically putting a hold on my funds, and several backorders really add up. Also the Paypal exchange rate just sucks!
