Keyboard shortcuts

Keyboard shortcuts are keys you can press to open menus and move around NamePros without the mouse. On a Mac, press Option where this page shows Alt, and Command where it shows Ctrl. If your browser uses the same keys for one of its own commands, the browser may act first.

Anywhere on NamePros

These keys do nothing while you are typing in a box. Click outside the box first, then press the key. The keys for your account menu, "Conversations" and "Alerts" work when you are logged in.

Key	What it does
`m`	Opens your account menu.
`,`	Opens the "Conversations" menu.
`.`	Opens the "Alerts" menu.
`/`	Opens "Search" and puts the cursor in the search box.
`1` to `9`	Number keys open the main navigation tabs, counting from the left: `1` opens the first tab, `2` the second, and so on. If a tab has a menu, its menu opens. The tab you are on already shows its links in the bar below the tabs, so its number may do nothing. These keys work only while the tabs show across the top of the page. On a narrow screen they do nothing.
`Alt` + `1` to `9`	Opens a link in the bar below the tabs, counting from the left: `Alt` + `1` opens the first link, and so on. If a link has a menu, its menu opens. Like the number keys, these do nothing on a narrow screen.
`Alt` + `↓`	Moves down the page to the next quick scroll point, such as the bottom of the page.
`Alt` + `↑`	Moves up the page to the previous quick scroll point, such as the top of the page.
`Esc`	Closes open menus and pop-up windows. This key also works while you are typing.

The two quick scroll keys work while "Quick scroll buttons" is on. It is on unless you turned it off. You can change it in your account, under "Appearance".

In your account menu

If you use more than one account on this browser, these keys switch between them. They work the same when the list of accounts is collapsed. To add an account, open your account menu and choose "Add an account".

Key	What it does
`m`, then `Enter`	Switches to the account you used before this one. Press the same two keys again to switch back.
`1` to `9`	While your account menu is open, switches to the account with that number. The menu shows each account's number. While the menu is open, the number keys do not open the navigation tabs.
`↑` and `↓`	While your account menu is open, moves up and down the list of accounts. Press `Enter` to switch to the one you moved to.

If you are logged out of an account, its number or Enter opens a box that asks for its password. Press Esc to close the box. You stay on the account you are using.

While you write a message

These keys work while you type in the message editor. The formatting keys change the text you selected, or the text you type next. Most of these keys do not work while the editor shows BB code (after you press "Toggle BB code").

`Ctrl` + `B`	Makes text bold.
`Ctrl` + `I`	Makes text italic.
`Ctrl` + `U`	Underlines text.
`Ctrl` + `S`	Draws a line through text.
`Ctrl` + `K`	Opens the window to add a link.
`Ctrl` + `P`	Opens the window to add an image.
`Ctrl` + `]`	Indents the paragraph.
`Ctrl` + `[`	Removes the indent.
`Ctrl` + `Z`	Undoes your last change.
`Ctrl` + `Y` or `Ctrl` + `Shift` + `Z`	Brings back the change you undid.
`Ctrl` + `Enter`	Sends your message, the same as pressing the button below the editor (e.g., "Post reply").
