Hey Folks,

I've just started using squadhelp.com to list some of my brandable. So far I have 76 domains listed, there is no fee to list. I've had some decent action so far in the way of interested buyers but no sales as of yet. I've only been with them for 1 week now.

A bit of a summary review of SquadHelp:

PROS
  • No Listing fee
  • No Logo design fee
  • Ability to submit your names to end users holding naming contests
  • Ability to chat directly or send a message directly to end users.
  • Stats of your marketplace domains are shown in the marketplace dashboard.
  • Their customer service and support has been great, 24hr a day chat.
  • Ability to increase or decrease the list price of your domains or to show a discount. You can decrease or increase the price yourself by $200. If you want to lower more, you can contact support.
  • End users can shortlist your domains before they make a decision on which they want to purchase. The number of shortlists is shown in you marketplace dashboard.
  • When you submit your names you get to set the price you wish to get. Because their commissions are high I recommend listing at a higher price to offset the commission costs.
  • Their landing pages are fairly basic but they work. Because the marketplace is fairly new, I'm sure we will see style improvements in the future.
  • One thing I really like is they accept multiple extensions. I have listed .co and .io along with .com
  • Each seller gets a direct link to their marketplace portfolio, HERES MY PORTFOLIO. It is handy if your trying to p[promote your portfolio through social media.
  • I like that their marketplace doesn't have tens of thousands domain listings like BB. They are fairly strict on the domains they accept to list and so this helps keep the number of domains in the marketplace down and gets your listings more exposure.
CONS
  • Their commissions are very high, depending on the domain name they are usually between 30% and 35%. However, there are no listing fees, no logo design fees, so in the end their commission is very similar to brand buckets.
  • Their logos are not top quality, in fact I requested to have some of my logos remade.
  • I think they have a big backlog of logos to design, the wait time for logo design has been around 1 week, but your names are still listed while the logos are being designed.
  • After your names are accepted you need to agree to their commission rate, at this point you also need to apply your own keywords, descriptions etc. I found this was very time consuming.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
For other issues (such as expired domains), we will look into making the process more efficient so that we can reactivate the listing without going through a long review process.
What of mine that was rejected after passing through the process?

@GrantP This one is for you.

The red Bordered User in the image (below) joined SH in Apr 2019, so how can he sell 11 domains & have 0% Sell Through Rate for last 12 Months?

Further, does the number of Sold Domains also includes Domains Sold by Winning Contest (Which are not Premium Listed)?

I was referring to two issues. The second one was submitted as unregistered, but when they approved it, I discovered I have already registered it.

When I contacted their support, they directed me to reject the approval and request for a review of the commission since I have registered it before their review.

I did as directed but the domain was rejected. Both happened within the same period.

As a seller, if you reject a name that has been accepted by SH(registered or unregisteted). That name will remain rejected.

if you try to submit it again, it will tell you "the domain has been submitted to the marketplace"

Even when the name is expired/dropped, you can't submit it, you will get that same error message. the only way out is through the blue button, you tell them you are the new owner of the name & you can't submit it or that you mistakenly hit the reject button instead of accept button.

We currently have an issue in our Sell Through Rate metric which is under-reporting this information. Specifically, this metric does not include names that are selling in less than 6 months of being listed. For example, the six month sell through rate is calculated as the percent of names that sold after being listed for atleast 6 months.

We plan to fix this in the near future because it currently leads to confusion - especially because we see many sales that occur in less than 6 month of listing - and those sales are not being included in any sell through rate.

For your second question, the sold domains also includes Domains sold by winning contests (as long as the domain was purchased by the customer for the premium price).

GrantP, how do you feel about implementing a process whereby Sellers can buy SH coins with their Earnings on SH?
This feature is already available for your Marketplace balance. Sellers can buy SH coins with their earnings available as Marketplace balance. Currently you are not able to purchase coins from your Contest balance (such as contest awards, bonus received). We plan to offer this ability in the future.

Their support directed me to do so. However, you can appeal for rejected names.

I really like SquadHelps email when they send notification about payment :) It starts with "Hurray" and makes you happy like a child :)

Hey @GrantP

How about adding price filter to the wholesale marketplace?

I believe there are bargains sitting there.

What is an average review time when you submit domain without using coins? I have submitted now three domains, that is maximum when you don't use coins.

I have recently contacted support 2 times and always received a standard reply.

"I will refer this to the team to be sure. We'll get back to you as soon as we have an update."

It's been 10 days for the 1st request and 15 days for another and never got the case resolved.

Whenever I contact them for followup, I again receive the same response.

" We'll reach out once we have updates."

Is it only me experiencing it or is there anyone else

Did you request for a logo or redesign? Looks like they are still working on the backlog caused by the influx of new sellers. I have several names that were published more than 2 weeks ago but still don't have logos.

@Kenndien No, the problem was not related to logo/lifestyle image or any review but specific to my account/profile

@GrantP Sorry to chime in with negativity as I highly appreciate squad and staff for the platform and effort.

But please add a tld search option for end users.
Flooding your market place with .co domains overall hurts this industry and I'll explain why.
- .co your clients likely dont know there even using a Colombia extension.
- your immense adwords promotions now advertises top keywords to drown out otherwise .com sales.

Again The BIG problem is you have no option for buyers to view their choice of tld. They are forced to see a blend of .com & .co when these hold two very different branding exposures for a business. Please correct at least this.

Thank you kindly

I think that you can't see the shortlists for 'Basic plus' domains, you can see only shortlists received in contests. All my shortlists are 'zero' for my Basic plus domains. I have more than 40 Basic Plus, and there are zero shortlists for all my domains.

Thanks for your feedback, @ecomslice. We have now added the tld filter:

The views you are getting are most likely direct traffic from the outside, not internal site searches or it's that someone lists your portfolio and then clicks the name. I'm pretty sure Basic Plus names are not searchable unless SH specifically decides your domain is special and lists it in the search engine.

BP listings are like any basic sales platform, similar to DAN, but without the site-wide search capability that would include your names. Unless SH has plans to improve BP listings, then those domains would likely be better off on DAN as they seem to offer more lander options, more payment options, searches, etc...

they are all listed at sh, gd, afternic and dan with the landers at sedo. it probably doesn't do much good at those sites without the landers but it doesn't do any harm either.

But if there is no lander at SH, how are they seeing your domain ? I'm pretty sure it is not searchable internally at SH and without the lander there, the world can't hit your page if they type in the domain in their browser. Sedo, Afternic and Dan will list your domain in their search if you are not using their landers.

So I think the only way to see it is to specifically list your portfolio while on SH and then notice the name and if it sounds like something they want, then they click on it. If that's the case then I cant imagine any traffic getting to those names on their site.
