I can see a number of these getting picked up - there a few others I'm surprised they accepted the high reserve and can't see selling because of it. What do you think?

I always found Canspace to be really good and used them for years.
I moved to godaddy because the canspace bulk tools did not function properly for me.

If it wasn't for the renewals fee at Godaddy, my ca's would still be there.

The ones at Godaddy are all multi-year registration/renewals, so not a concern for me for a while.

Not sure why I am not registering .ca's long term, maybe it cause I stopped using my Visa to pay and or buy domains. Of course, my hosting is a given.

I have the wholesale club at godaddy but the pricing at canspace for a .ca is pretty spectacular for an every day price.

You can register single years at godaddy, they just automatically default to two. Simply select 1 year and you are good to go.

Problem 1: pricing at canspace was top notch but I did not like that my .com's and others were sublet to a different registrar (enom if I recall) after registering at canspace. So basically the .ca's were at canspace and my others somewhere else. That was problem 1.

Problem 2 was that the bulk tools could only handle about 100 domains at a time before it timed out. The bulk tools are OK at best but when you have as many domains as I have then doing 100 at a time is just too slow a process.

Problem 3: I wanted whois to be visible and getting that consistent was a never ending process. For some reason whenever I registered it would block whois or if I changed in bulk only some got changed. Not so much an issue now with everything blocked anyways but back then it was an issue.

But the last reason I went to godaddy was because I can just push a domain out and that has saved my bacon a few times. All domainers have godaddy accounts so if you want quick payment for a domain a push is the fastest way to transfer and it allows you to get funds super fast.

Basically the same price Canspace charges every day but you have to have to buy a membership to gt that price at Godaddy. Mind you the .coms are cheaper at godaddy.

Started switching a bunch to NameSilo last year. $8.79 with no membership to buy. Haven't tried the bulk tools so no comment on that.

$8.79 renewal as well.

Forgot, that's USD.

Just completed a sale for TimberCraft.ca it was back and forth over months and I kept refusing the lowball offers. I did come down a bit but I was able to get 6x his highest previous offer. im happy at least and I think he now has a great business name.

Congrats and welcome to my world - the lowballers seem to be out in full-force, but if you stand your ground and don't insult anyone, most will be back. After all, it's only money.

Just checked my phone and saw 3 minimum bid offers (multiple sources) and 2 "price requests" (i.e. people looking to buy for $10) from Afternic.

Wait and see 5 Gingerbread men run, run, as fast as they can... once I counter. :xf.frown:

The masses are learning about CBD/Cannabis especially how money can be made...really not surprised by "lowballers" trying to get into the market cheaply.

The ones with "short arms and deep pockets" sure are hard to distinguish..just like in real estate...

at gd when someone places a bid they are referred to as bidder 1 and if they come back several days later and up their bid they are still referred to as bidder 1,correct? the only time you would see bidder 2 is when a second bidder places a bid, in which case they become bidder 1 and the first bidder becomes bidder 2,again correct?

A "lead" at Afternic means a guy found 10-cents in the gutter that's burning a hole in his pocket, and on Sedo/DAN/Flippa, a "minimum offer" is viewed as a BIN.

That's the way it's supposed to work, but I have no idea if companies like Huge Domains employ multiple sub-accounts to do business.

Yes, and I think I only read the first 3 lines of the OP, and then missed the very end where he changed gears and started reassigning numbers.

If you are Bidder 1, you are supposed to stay Bidder 1 no matter your eventual placement in the auction.

Congrats, nice name. When you know the buyer is already locked into the name and is basically looking to upgrade their domain name to your better version, then stubbornness and patience pays off.

That's always going to happen, can't let it get you frustrated. It's just the way it is. That's also why I don't use minimum offer listings. You don't buy anything else in life with a minimum offer listing, so its not surprising that buyers don't understand it or like it for domains. In my opinion, it gives the industry sort of a bad reputation - almost feels like a bait and switch tactic.

I've never experienced such a bizarre and unprecedented run like this before, and usually I meet a real buyer from time to time, and not just own a permanent seat on the Lowballer Express. The sheer numbers are getting me a bit testy, not the concept of lowballers.

And I understand your comments on the "minimum offer" situation, but there are people constantly offering a tiny open offers for a 1-word premium .COM - do they *really* think that's the BIN price? If I take away the minimum, many of them will just offer ~$10.

I see Rosener and Elliot Silver complaining about this trend all the time lately, as in "if I was going to sell Lilac.com for $10 I would have done so a long time ago". :xf.grin:

The only alternative to Offers is putting a BIN on every domain listing, which I can guarantee will leave some money on the table here and there. And as a buyer sometimes, an offer is an offer and I don't see any difference in viewpoint concerning open offers and minimum offers - same mechanics and process - dicker, dicker, don't pay the sticker.

I know we buy through a set price in the "real world" and buyers just love BINs and hate offer-bargaining (the "set a BIN" is hammered into you on every domain marketplace and listing mechanism going), but are we supposed to put a $5K BIN on every listing because I'm pretty sure a few may sell for that?
