Let's see who can acquire the best .COM hand registration during the month of March? "Best" will be determined by your peers. You have to create it during the month of March 2019. As long as it says created 03-2019 it could have been a name born before that died and lost its age. Let me be clear, for this March contest the name has to be a new DOT COM hand reg that you own.

Here are the rules of this DOT COM HAND REG MARCH 2019 contest:

1. Hand registration during the month of March 2019.
2. You may submit up to 7 domain names. (Each name submitted must have it's OWN Reply post).
3. So if you want to submit 7 names, submit SEVEN separate Reply posts.
4. I am excluding myself from entering the contest, since I am facilitating the event!
5. The Top 20 Finalist will be selected the following way .---> (10) "Likes" entries with the most "Likes" in the thread and (10) Wildcard entries selected by a team of 5 panelist from the NamePros community. The 5 panelist will be announced after month end to avoid mid-month lobbying. Additionally, the 5 panelist (Wildcard pickers) will be be non-participants in the contest to avoid a conflict of interest and will be respected NPros members that have a wealth of experience in domaining. The panelist members will be a familiar lot.
6. The WINNER will be selected by your peers via a TOP 20 POLL from the Top 20 Finalist mentioned above.
7. The TOP 20 POLL will occur at the end of the month. This will be a 72 hour poll.
8. We welcome EVERYONE to participate in selecting the WINNER from the Top 20 Finalist list.
9. In the event of a TIE during with winner polling, the tie-breaker will go to the WINNER with the earlier submission posted to this thread. (a plan to avoid any misunderstand should a tie occur)

TOP 20 Finalist
  • Finalist Pick 10 - those 10 names with the most "likes" make it to the Top 20 (user involvement).
  • Finalist Pick 10 - those 10 names that a panel selects make it to the Top 20 (panel involvement).
  • Top 20 Poll - this involves everyone, but only for a 72 hour window at month end (ALL involvement).

What do you win?

  • Number one, props and recognition here at Namepros.
  • I will personally pay $20 JACKPOT (via PayPal) to the WINNER.
  • Anyone wishing to contribute an additional $0.30 to the Jackpot - contact me via PM - and I will add your contribution on top of the $20 Jackpot I have committed (let's see how large a Jackpot we can build).

* Sponsors welcome. Send me a PM.

JACKPOT UPDATE:

* We have had (9) NP members generously contribute additional funds to the JACKPOT.
* The JACKPOT is now at $200 Total + 1 Efty Growth subscription

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Has anyone sold or had any offers for their domains posted in this thread?

I did some outbound for my submission and have had a $200 offer. I quoted a higher price though and am sticking with it.

Be interesting to see how many have had offers or sales as that's the real test.

I wonder if in future contests we could have a separate prize or recognisation for when a name sells perhaps? Although I understand that could be years away.

Just a thought.

I got an offer for one of my submitted domains, it was lowball offer ($80) which I didn't accepted but it is a good omen :) because offer arrived 2 days after registration.

I didn't have a buy offer, but I did have someone I never conversed with before DM me about how they thought one of my domains I submitted was a really good one. Does that count? :xf.grin:

--- UPDATE ---

Hi Everyone -

@Joe Nichols has respectfully brought to my attention that the "Likes" summary chart provided earlier had an Error.

Ahhhh Snap!

Bad news - I fell out of chair thinking we're screwed!

Good news - I got back into my chair, dusted off the humility, and did some data research determined to find the root cause of the Error.

Joe is correct. After performing some research this afternoon, I found the root cause of the problem.

The root cause of the problem was that I did not take into account that someone might click "Thanks" for one of the submissions.

My bad!

And since "Thanks" happens to shows up above the "Likes" section when displayed on a post, it threw off the process' summary count for those submissions that had a "Thanks" recognition in their post.

Also, I should mention - Joe is (again) correct - his entry "CustomShoeDesign" did qualify for the Top 26 Finalist (now Top 27 Finalist) based on the selection model outlined earlier today.

(below is a screen shot highlighting the new counts for all entries with >= 9 "Likes" - please refer to the LIKES-REDO column - the 3rd column to right on the chart below - none of the other Top 26 were impacted by the "Thanks" scenario)

upload_2019-4-2_13-10-13.png

Additionally, I ran a "Delta" check against other Transaction ID's (posts) and identified that several posts had a few "Thanks" provided. However, none of the other transactions (posts) had their counts improved enough with the "Thanks" check to have the domain qualify for the Finalist Pool.

(please see below screen shot - specifically the Orange section highlights the Delta column and the Green column displays the New Likes Tally for each transaction - other than Joe's entry, none of the others achieved a "Likes" count >= 9 )

upload_2019-4-2_13-32-41.png

Overall - Joe was correct and his entry "CustomShoeDesign" does qualify for the Finalist Pool. Additionally, with further review, I identified no other entries that were inaccurately withheld from the Finalist Pool due to the "Thanks" oversight.

Thank you Joe for bringing this to my attention.

I apologize for the mistake and confusion.

-Cougar

ps: Quick Update - I have a DM in with Eric (NP) asking his help with re-adding the Finalist Poll to the thread. Once I hear back from him, I will provide everyone an update for when the Finalist Poll will be ACTIVE.

I was thinking this would be a great idea for a separate contest... A hand reg sales contest. Basically, see who can register and sell a domain name in the same calendar month. Prizes for quickest profitable sale above a certain ROI, highest ROI, longest name sold, etc.

Of course there's every chance that only one or two (or zero) names would be sold, but I think it could be a cool experiment!

This is very hard to do than to be said.

The easiest thing I can think of is to keep those hand reg domains Parked on a common platform to check which domain gets most traffic. Then panelists choose the best one according their experience and criteria.

Agreed! Would need all kinds of validation to verify when the name was purchased and sold, and maybe even to confirm that sales efforts didn't begin until after the name was bought.

Could be cool, though!

Which name?

The only one I submitted. InfluencerExperts/ com.

Do a Google and you'll see loads of influencer agency type businesses who use these exact keywords in some form. Whether it be a tagline, slogan or such.

Influencer niche is going to boom I think. More and more startups offering expertise in this field.

Cheers

How is that a lowball offer?

Yes.- if it was a .COM with a Creation Date in March 2019, then it would have qualified.

--- TOP 27 FINALIST POLL is NOW LIVE ---

Hello -

The finalist poll is now LIVE and will be open for the next 72 hours.

You may select up to 3 choices. (see the top of your screen)

Thank you for all your submissions this month.

Best of luck to the finalist!.

ps: My apologies for the delay in getting the poll started. Unbeknownst to me, the standard poll feature had a limitation of 20 entries. Eric (Npros) generously increased the Poll Choice Limitation to accommodate our need for 27 entries. Thank you Eric!

Hey Cougar,

Congratulations on your achievement. Perhaps 25% of the next prize, should be awarded to the CH, to cover coffee expenses at least :)

Are we allowed to share how we voted?

Anyway, I just voted, I struggled with the 3rd vote. 1 & 2 are were easy. Clear winner, at least in my view.

Great stuff..

Protip for next contest: Pick an "A" domain so you're at the top of the voting list. I've won countless contests with this one simple hack.

You have totally done a jam up job! I am thoroughly impressed. There was a commercial years ago. I do not recall the company name, but the jist was, "We don't make the things you need for life, we make the things for life better." I love ideas! And they are certainly not germane to me! I love that you took a seed and look at us all here now seeing a full bloom!

3rd vote? How are you voting 3 times? I am only able to vote once.

I just cast my 3 votes too - I checked 3 boxes on the ballot on the top of this page, then hit submit and all 3 votes went through and all 3 were counted in the results.
