The site is called "Boundless Domains"
boundlessdomains.com

It's nothing fancy and it's not entirely completed, but it's a start. Still a lot more work to be done.

Any advice on how I should advertise/market the site? This is my first attempt, so all the help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Your using Efty. Which I think is a wise choice. The best in it's class. And no commissions :) Also, I haven't found any Wordpress Theme which comes even close to Efty. So. IMHO. You are on the right track.

Go to BitMitigate.com:

https://bitmitigate.com/website-suite.html

Add the Website suite. There is a free option. It will make your site SSL-secured and much faster. Many folks will not buy from a non-SSL site.

@NickLim from BitMitigate is on NamePros.

I thought it was a good place to start for beginners, very user friendly platform. Yes, the fact they don't charge a commission is incredible. You pay flat monthly rate of course, but that's nothing compared to the typical commission percentage around 20% or more. I'm encouraged to know that I've started out on the right foot with their service. Thanks for your feedback!

Thank you! I will look into this right now. Is this type of service needed if I'm using Efty? They should already have SSL-security.

I'm not sure. But probably it would be too expensive to provide an SSL certificate for every account. @Rob Monster is correct. Some people would be leary about buying from a non-secure website. I think this should be an optional add-on for Efty, where you buy and install the SSL on your account, @Doron Vermaat. Maybe we could buy an Efty SSL, and let them earn a few bob from selling them, and install for free :)

You can just go to Settings, then click Marketplace, then click enable Marketplace SSL. It comes with it. Unless, it's what Bob posted below, you're on the Basic plan.

I no longer have Efty account, although a big fan of the user friendly and powerful platform. You can activate SSL - it is simply a matter of turning it on. It is included with the growth and the professional memberships, but not the basic one, as I recall.

SSL certificates are free these days guys.

https://letsencrypt.org/

Amazing how many people still don't know this and are wasting money every year.

Yep. I just checked the Efty prices, https://www.efty.com/pricing/ SSL is included free with the Growth ($12/m) & Professional ($25/m) Plans

Just reached out to @Doron Vermaat to get this done for Efty sites. It is a no-brainer.

CloudFlare has 10 million domains on their platform. We aim to bypass that with BitMitigate in part by giving this capability to parking domains.

I know that one of our domainer has build a .Best aftermarket marketplace for its own domains on https://www.aftermarket.best

You can probably get in touch with him through its website.

Thanks everyone for your feedback so far. I have the SSL all figured out now, so I feel good about that. The next step is trying to market my website to the broader market. I know that Efty is a marketplace in itself, but are there ways I can market/advertise my site more? Thanks in advance!

Congrats on the acquisition. I somehow missed it earlier but stumbled upon the news a couple of days ago.

I can recommend bitmitigate. Keep up the good work!

@Mitchell Hengesbach

I am not going to promote anything here (Like others did), I have looked at your marketplace, it's good,

1. At the right side below the "Phone" symbol its say "Call us and we'll help you secure the perfect domain name for your business". great but where is the Phone number. You should secure a virtual phone number and put that there.

2. There is a section called "About us" but its a blank page, remove it or fill it with some information about you/company

3. The site Icon using the default Efty icon change it to yours.

4. The black coloured Logo of your site doesn't match with the theme and make it ugly looking. change it or match it.

A lot of positive ideas shared here, but would point out that there is a part of NPs for showing people's websites and external marketplaces. I am not a moderator (let us all be thankful for that :xf.wink:) just pointing it out.

To answer your question, @Mitchell Hengesbach "What do I do now?" ahh... now is the hard part. It is all fine and good to have a marketplace, but to actually get people to go there is the hard part. I would suggest the following as starting points:
  • Add the link to your marketplace to your normal email signature so that at least those you regularly communicate with will know it.
  • If you are active in social media, such as LinkedIn, Twitter, etc. do make it known you have a marketplace.
  • Of course the ideal thing is to get noticed significantly in search. Are Efty sites tracked and Google indexed (I don't know). I do know that for regular domain websites having the right amount of text content, keeping it current, loading fast, etc. all helps you to get noticed by Google. I don't know if you have descriptions, beyond the standard ones, if it helps on Efty, but it will help for people searching for your domain names.
You may find services like Nibbler (if they work for information management sites like Efty, not sure) helpful in (for free) giving you advice on what you can do to make your site better.

Best wishes,

Bob

Next step which should have been done already before creating this thread. Get the exact match social media accounts before you get cybersquatters to grab them first.

Been there done or had that done to me.

They charge $250 or more to hand it over.

Some create it same day I regged.

Thanks for your feedback! I added a phone number. I will try to include information in the "About Me" section. I'm using Efty and I don't know if I can take that section out or not. I would have to upgrade my account to change the Favcon, but I don't want to put too much money into this quite yet. Yes, the logo and the background definitely do not go well together. I'll be working on making that better.

Thank you for your great advice! I have added the link to my signature. I will do my best to be more active on other social media sites as well. I will work on making better descriptions for each domain listed. I will also check out Nibbler. Thanks again for your help!

Do you mean to create social media accounts specifically for "Boundless Domains" or for each domain I'm selling? I'm assuming you meant the former, but I want to clarify. Thanks!

Social media like Instagram and Twitter first. Facebook is dead but still some residual traffic . eBay is good to for backlinks. Just make sure only make offer.

LinkedIn obviously.

Then there are websites that lists all websites that will let you create follow backlinks while most are NOFOLLOW. (No expert on that last bit. Some one correct me?)

Some people post questions on Quora then answer the question with a separate account. Then shamelessly plug their website. Lol

For boundless of course. Better hurry people are reading this as we speak. You have no idea how evil people can be. They will squash your dreams and register your brand on social media. So you can't have it.

Always best to grab social media accounts that are exact matches before you spill beans publicly on public forum. Just saying.

There are websites online that lists daily what domains were registered this is where these low life hang out.

They check which domain has potential to become big if it had social media then they regged it for free then contact the domain registrant to sell it. $250 and up.

Definitely get your social media accounts! Next, you need to create a foundation for word of mouth and advertising:
  • start a blog
  • start a newsletter
When you do advertise, test on a small scale to make sure it works.
