Yep, smog is horrible out east too, unliveable for me past 605 east. Actually only within 5 miles of ocean is livable. I have no idea how a normal person could enjoy living in say Irwindale or West Covina. Ugh. I know from living and growing up there along coast 40+ years. It used to be a decent place, until between mid 80’s to mid 90’s became ruined with Aerospace Military industry crash and closings and they started building up into past Santa Clarita, then all the crazy Palmdale commuters on 14, and 91 way out past Riverside. 2-3 hr drives one way.

Santana winds in the 60’s renamed Santa Ana Winds. Fires occur just about every year when I was there. These moron “celebrity” science majors are ignorant idiots claiming the fires are caused by global warming, period.

I drove from Redlands to Santa Barbara for about six months for work. I would get up at 4, be on the road by 4:30, get to work an hour early. If I left at 5, I'd be late.

My next door neighbor drove to 60 miles one way to SB daily, and it was a haul this was in late 90’s. He over drove his lease alloted miles too.

Wow. Thats an incredible drive, at least it was only 6 months, and not the 405 you probably had the alternate route through Pomona and Foothills, Hansen Dam like 210- 118. (Post 82’)

I was self employed fortunately 1/2 my career and sometimes left my warehouse and traveled anywhere between SB to San Diego. Sometimes I’d stay in a hotel if I had a 3 day auction, regardless as too much driving if S OC. Sealed bids though my driving rule was never leave before 10am and start back before 2 pm. Still, with a stick shift in traffic it sucked. They added 2 lanes recently on 405, did nothing according to friends driving now on it over the Sep. Pass. Had a industry competitor friend who put 380,000 miles on his car doing sales calls daily all over SoCal mid 80’s to mid 2000’s.

They provide a popular, free service in exchange for marketing data and an advertising platform. They definitely need to clean things up, and the video view issue was bad, but overall it’s a very inexpensive ad platform with highly effective targeting that other businesses use to grow their business. Many businesses do far better there than on other platforms. Far from “useless.”

With any free service you use, you're not the customer, you’re the product.

They’ve cracked down big time on anything remotely political - you now need to give them a crapton of personal information if you want to do it and it all needs to be verified. Even, for example, for something like a PSA type ad reminding people to vote.
