AI (Artificial Intelligence) - Is there a possibility AI domains will have good demand in the future?

What do you own?
What have you sold?
What's your recent purchase?
Your thoughts and news on AI - Good or Bad?

AI DOMAINS (I own 3 x AI domains)
ImmersiveAI(com) 2025 expiry
AIofThings(com) - recently caught
AIA(io) - keeping 1 x .io for the tech space

BostonAI.com is the only AI domain I believe I own. It's not because I don't believe in the space I'm just spread across too many tech niches to come into AI and invest the right way. By now I'd have to dig deep for goodies. Will keep an AI on this niche though ;)

Not sure if this was already noted, but here's an AI sale from this evening's DNjournal...

"Human.ai led the charge for the country code domains with a $45,000 sale at Sedo."

Well if artificial intelligence is actually intelligent, then it can easily read my abbreviation for artificial intelligence.

Some for me,

aibpo.com -> AI Business Process Optimization (Outsourcing)
aiaml.com -> AI Anti-Money Laundering or AI and ML

AI domains related to body parts have so much demand like leg, arm, human, fingers, brain etc etc

IMHO, you always want to keep in mind the basic rule... "If you have to explain the meaning of the acronym, you probably don't want to reg that name!" (e.g. If the term isn't in such common usage that everyone immediately knows what it means, than it is probably of very limited utility to the ultimate enduser... JMHO as always... ;)) GL with your names!

Thanks for bringing this up, 99% of the time I'd completely agree with this, however in this case I'd say it goes well together, reasoning is that both acronym are widely recognised in the industry

1) BPO is huge money making area. Outsourcing is one of the top ways how companies deal with cost cutting pressure. And the industry is already being disrupted by AI and automation (RPA is just a start) The term itself has 100k - 1m exact searches a month.

2) KYC&AML are on the other hand known in the financial world and AI is being deployed there for fraudulent transaction recognition. (Banks waste around $3bn on manual AML work) The term has also 100k - 1m exact searches/month (altho that's combination with a medical term)

I agree that these are not 'mainstream friendly' domains, however personally I'd say that for companies operating in the space there will be no other choice than go for acronyms, because noone wants to, and noone actually does say 'business process outsourcing or anti-money laundering' on day to day basis.

btw. I'm not trying to defend and go on offensive, just explaining my thought process as someone who works in the industry :)

At the end of the day, registered both of these for £1.20 promo, worth a shot even if it doesn't work out, live to learn.

Just my 2c and happy to talk this through further.

@Alexej K , your points are well taken... All I can tell you from my personal experience in the legal/insurance fields, is that I've played specilized "business facing" (vs. mainsteam) domain names in the past, and I've rarely seen a decent profit. I suspect this is because: 1) these name have little speculative appeal to other domainers; and 2) the names are kind of "inside baseball" in the particular industry and thus there is a much more limited pool of potential endusers/buyers. For example, the term "KandR" is used in the insurance industry for a type of specialty policy (kidnap and ransom...), and I had some superlative names in this vertical but no takers for years... This said, I personally have played some b2b acronym areas like "CRM" (customer relationship management), but only if there is some strongly established demand and easy recognition of the terminology. Again, just my two cents - I hope you prove me wrong and make a bundle on your names! ;)

Have one AI domain, local language in .com, and just got 150 euro offer for it. Maybe I should see if there is some finds still to be had in the English language .com AI domains.

Also had a $250 offer for AI//Translator on GD. Countered, but haven't heard back.

My view on this thing is that to major public it is jargon word much like smart (smartphone, smart tv...). They are more interested in branded services, for example every one uses Google, and he does not need to have "search engine" in the domain name.
Same goes for artificial inteligence. When one of the AI becomes publicly popular it will proabably be branded in such similar way. Therefore I do not expect a tidal wave of AI domain names requests. Though to some extent a profitable resell should be possible.

Yes, All hyphen domains: -ai.com

In my humble opinon, the hyphen makes the "ai" standout more from the main word which may be why some companies are using it... Or because the non-hyphen domain is not available. not sure. I think the hyphen creates sort of a cool, original extenson of its own for artificial intelligence domains. Just my two cents

@DomainingHustle, all I can do is share with you my hyphen experience from back in the day with the "3D" craze... At that time, I bought what I thought were some fantastic names, including "sure" winners like Videos-3D.com, Movies-3D, etc. What I discovered was that while folks were sometimes willing to buy a name configuration with a hyphen up front (e.g. 3D-Videos), there was really no market at all for the hyphen in the reverse position. (In fact, it was hard to sell names like Cameras3D or Truck3D, etc., even without the hyphen at all!) This said, were I in your shoes, I'd try to pull a refund for anything but the number names and possibly the 2L-2L configuration - Otherwise you may be holding some of these names for a looooong time!;)

Hey, thanks for those thoughts and expetience. I've already received some somewhat reasonable offers on hyphenated ai com names, but I may decide to hold my best ones. AI is the future, maybe the whole future? Where as 3D not so much. Limited ai domains to fill that need, as I see it... ;)

X Google Lead Engineer picked up human.ai - this is a pretty big step for the ai and it's adoption. Though I suspect the .ai Will be a luxury item for some because of its reg fee and market value.
