The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
A person once made a $1000 offer on one of these names and he though he was being generous. I know he was working at Sotheby's International Realty. You know, this guy must be renting and selling luxury properties every day... that company must be spending insane amounts of money on advertising and promotion but enhancing their Internet presence is not something they value.

this is good to know. why is that? are they just "one trick ponies" that know only one thing? perhaps you need to talk directly to their IT guy or girl, someone who understands the complexities and usefulness of domains? or will it not matter?

That is very true..well, what we can do is somehow to try to educate end users as for why they should value good domain names, as not many still understand that..and mainly for realtors, where almost all sales are now conducting via internet portals/MLS systems, great internet presence should be of out most importance.

Ohhh, never talk to "IT guy"..they just do not care about company..always try to talk to company owner, or company founder, or at least company director..they are the only ones who really cares :) Standard employees just does not give a **** about it at all..believe me.

Oh no, not the IT guy. They are possibly worse and don't understand domains well in terms of branding.

It's an uphill struggle.
I think those who would be in a better position to educate end users are the media agencies, the webmasters. But their advice will always be to pick some available domain and do SEO magic, for which they charge the client.
Building a website can be expensive, spending on adwords can be expensive too in the long run, yet end users balk at the idea of paying a one-time fee to upgrade their domain name (and a chance to have a strong URL on their business cards). That's reality folks, in 2016 few people understand the power of domain names.

I remember a while back sending a custom outbound email to a potential enduser.

at one point I said "Don't listen to your it guy or webdesigner. he's just going to look out for his own job. He'll probably tell you. you don't need that exact match domain or great brand. you just need ME. you can get any free to reg domain and I can do that rest. that's what you hire me for right?

but you can't deny the fact that big corporations spend a ton of money on great domains. all these big corps with million dollar budgets for domains plus million dollar payrolls for advisors who tell them to buy these domains. all of these people can't be wrong"

so who are you gonna listen to? your it guy who is protecting his own job? because if you have a strong domain? your not gonna need him as much? or maybe fire him?

or listen to the Amazon and Microsoft's and Ebay's of the world who buy thousands of domains?

I do not have this experience. Real estate agents are very easy to get in touch, as they are always in hunt to get new properties for sale..so they are very responsive to any inquiries. Also, considering how much money they make on commissions per each single sale, domains are not expensive for them..but one needs to have and offer them right domains, of course :)

I didn't say they were hard to get in touch with, just that they usually do not want to pay too much for names.

there is that one sale that always sticks in my mind
JacksonHoleRealEstate.com $70K

Yeah, but that is an outlier and not a typical real estate name sale.

I mean no offense to Wyoming but I can think of a million other GEO's to match with "RealEstate" that would worth that price more than Jackson Hole even if they say that area has a ton of multimillion dollar real estate.

as for my DumboProperty that I mentioned it's an EMD. so contacted Kushner Properties about wait. no reply. they own DumboHeights in king and also for the hell of it check out DumboEmpireStores in king to get an idea what I'm talking about. it's not just a silly disney character. it's big money.

Just googled that, seems like your domain has good potential. Also..it is good to contact several subjects in parallel, how many have you contacted?

I agree there are many geo real estate names as valuable as JacksonHoleRealEstate/com.

All I am saying is that the average real estate company/agent/broker generally will not pay a high price for a domain.

That is all I am saying.

what's that all about?
lets forget the keyword "realtor" it is a trademark, so why to register it?
we can play with words realty, realestate, estate, etc...many other options, and without any risks :)

When .condos was about to come out I thought about registering some names. Miami.condos sounds pretty cool. But I had already wasted enough time trying to sell .com domains to real estate agents in their local markets. Given the dollar value of a real estate transaction we should be seeing real estate names on DNJ every week. RE agents just do not get domains. Perhaps in a few years when new tlds are mainstream :)
