Hey, just curious to see what you all think of .org's ? I have 2 I am wanting to sell quickly, FindingAJob .org and Night-Club .org

Worth anything? Anyone have any luck selling .org's recently?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I actually like FindingAJob.org sounds smooth and it does have related sites when I looked in Zfbot.com it also has 3,600 monthly searches. The only thing is most of the .orgs I have seen selling are one word ones same thing goes for .net and .info. With .com you can find great value in keywords like Finding A Job but not so much for the other extensions. As for Night-Club .org I just do not see any value with the hyphen added to it.

If you have not done so yet put up FindingAJob .org for sale over at NameJet.com and Godaddy, based on NameBio.com the recent .org domains have sold a lot at those 2 market places.

Number domains are bought by Chinese domain investors in big numbers. You can't really count these in - they are buying them in many extensions, .org just being one of them.

So unless it's a number domain or you run a non-profit org, I'd stay away from them.

Thanks,
Brandon

As a programmer, I prefer .org over most other extensions.

I've had 5 offers this year for pypi -org, an acronym of python, but this has a special meaning for programmers.

IMO a three-word and a hyphenated .ORG are worth no more than reg fee when you now have hundreds of new TLDs as options to paying a premium price. IMO the keyword needs to make sense with a nonprofit organization, have solid search volume and still be reasonably priced. I have done OK with .ORG as I never really pursued them but just stumbled across a few and never really held many. I believe only have about two or three at the moment and am not looking to buy much of anything other than short .COM.

Why is that?
Maybe it's due to the tradition. Lots of open source projects are using .org, e.g., most Linux/BSD distros.

Also most official websites of programming languages are using .org domains, like Python, Ruby, R, etc (they are open source too).

To me, .org means trustable, reliable and often community driven. Now some open source projects are using .io because it can be regarded as input/output, and .io becomes even popular after Github used it for Github pages. QT project also switched from .org to .io. But as you see, .io is much more expensive -- that's why I like .org, as always :)

Yes. PyPi is important to Python, just like chrome extension store to chrome browser.

Despite the depreciating value of .orgs, do you think domain names like FutureInvestments.org or iHaveAPlan.org will still sell for significant amounts?

.org is still worthy....
FutureInvestments.org is kinda nice, even in .org because it could focus on sustainable investments :)

What about HaveAPlan.org? There's a very similar domain which I found available for registration today. And it's a widely used phrase too.

.org is still worthy of big sales prices but I feel the demand as lessened somewhat since the new extensions have been introduced.

Its most powerful when used as a business name and one word .org's command the biggest prices.

hyphens are a no go with this extension IMO, phrases can be effective but findingajob is a little lacking - findajob is preferable.

I have a .org: the<keyword>.org
I recently registered it

This domain gets an insane amount of unique visitors without any site up yet.

Offcourse .org is still worth something. lets not make a joke of serious, commonly used extensions. Because they are not .com doesnt mean they dont hold good value.

Sold a LLLL .org last week for $5,000. The domain was quad premium letter and a $9.45 hand-reg back in 2012.

Always found it hard to sell keywords though, even terms with high search volume....
