Virtual Reality Domains (VR)

Spaceship Spaceship
Watch
Im betting big bucks on VR domains have a great future and with the big boys buying up VR companies, mainstream is a stones throw away.....

Lots of VR+keyword.com taken years ago and I noticed this sale a week or so back -

VRTechnology.com $3688

This was a steel and I can soon see everything from VRPoker / VRCasinos / VRShopping / VRBrowsing / VRTours / VRWorlds / etc etc....having a high price tag even now at the start of VR hitting mainstream...

I have just paid $x,xxx for a name but will not be showcasing as the domain is in escrow at present....

Feel free to showcase your VR domains If you like...

Cheers

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
i would ask $1500, so you could reach $995 after few negotiations ;)

I'm probably older than most in this bunch but....
I have liked names from Sc-Fi movies....

Does anyone remember VideoDrome ?...

...The Best as it is all about 'is it real or a hallucination'.

One of my favorite sci-fi/horror movies! It really makes you think. Every so often I see it on TV but I really should get a copy.

I'm going on record as not being in favor of a remake though. They'd just screw it up with too much special effects/CGI, choppy cuts, first person camera POV, etc... I like my movies a little more plot driven and cerebral.

900 seems appropriate at this stage of the game.

Thank you all for the clarification. I countered him at $1200. Let's see if he takes the bait ;)

Be sure to tell us how this shakes out for you !
Since you came to us for advise ;), we are curious !

It's a fair name and as long as there are not to many digits, I'm sure they will come back with a counter. Otherwise a year wait till you see offers near that range and is the point for the BIN price.

Just spit balling here, but how about... iSight
Get it??? "eye sight"...
OK, OK,...Hmmm, tough audience! I thought it was clever... LOL

iSight is clever, but Apple has moved away from the "i" branding scheme for new product lines.

Just read the President of Nintendo died. I wonder how the company will progress going forward.

Guys, some person on Flippa offered me $XX for VR??????.com , but he wants me to tell him a BIN price. Please help me out as far as asking price for this domain.

Thanks

Jeremy

@J3r3myist Tip: If you have active negotiation, when you are asking for advice, you don't want to mention the name online as it is.

Searching for your name shows it as 2nd search result. If buyer figures this out, it will mean a lot less $ or lot more negotiation.

Mention the name with some spaces or hyphen or add an extra character in between. Something like I got an offer for VRxyzKeyword.com (without the xyz)

I have mentioned VR????? in my post, so it wont come up in search, if you ( and others who have mentioned it ) edit it out.

BTW, that is a good name, even $1K seems less. If it was me, I would hold unless I need the cash and put up a news site for few months.

More on Samsung and GearVR....
According to this:
http://vr-zone.com/articles/4-gb-ra...msung-galaxy-note-5-specifications/95710.html
We might see both the G Note 5 And S6 (quad core 64b) and GearVR CV next month.
I will state some of the obvious reasons why this makes sense.
Beat Microsoft to announcements.(that S6 is tablet power)
Beat iPhone 6s to launch.(biggest competition)
Beat Android M launch. And that is probably the largest reason. When they launched GearVR Innovator, Google launched a new version of Android and created plenty of problems for Samsung and Oculus because their version of Android is uniquely modified (proprietary) to GearVR and for the speed of graphics. Samsung needs to modify their version of Android M before pushing it to consumers. They need some time to vet their original version with the public before upgrading it.
I do think google is also trying to incorporate a speed-up to VR graphics in the Android M for the 360 video and games for 'cardboard' and other encapsulated phone HMD's. Harder for them to do with a wide array of GPU's in the phones.(a patent battle coming?)

I do also think that Oculus is being held back by Sumsung production for it's new flagship phones over it's displays used on the Rift CV1. I'm sure they want to at least announce a pre-order date in nov/dec for delivery in jan/feb because Valve has got some pressure on them. By bumping everything up, samsung is really changing the roadmap for everyone.
I expect Google to try to throw a monkey wrench in it all by releasing Android M earlier than expected, "if they can do that".I know I touched on the topic yesterday, but the S6 coming out early also is a very big deal (6 months early). Especially for GearVR CV.
Oculus is working on AR/VR for future release. Reminds me again of former Valves/Technical Illusions CastAR.
In any case, this looks like it is heating up better than I expected and we should see that in names sooner than I thought. Kinda good news as compared to the disappointments we have had up to this point with dates being pushed out, not in. Dust off your brandables, the dev's will be coming !

Are any of you going to actually be consumers of Virtual Reality products as well?

I'm definitely getting something but I think I'm going to wait for second generation products/upgrades.

Yes. Mostly for gaming. I'm already saving up for a beast pc rig.

Definitely here! I already have a headset i bought off amazon. I think i spent 30 bucks on it and it came with a bluetooth controller. Cool stuff but im waiting for better content then I'll most likely upgrade.

Probably will have a Rift, Vive and I really want to try the StarVR. I think that one tops it "if" the media will work out well with that 5K 210 degree FOV. No interest in Sony's.
I don't look forward to any real standards till the 3rd gen of devices so most will be tossing money up often like phones. We need standards in the media and hardware. Remember the days of needing to do hardware specific set-ups... they will be coming back for this stuff at first.
Your not necessarily going to get the same results with each unit. The SDK's are all different.
Standards are what I'm looking for. I have my own dev when that happens.
Hope that Windows 10 and directx12 will help with that.
Probably be pretty buggy for the first 6-12 months.
We are all going to need new computers, video cards to say the least and possibly better internet depending on what you want to do.

Great point that few bring up when discussing the adoption timeline for VR!

It is my understanding that, right now, Oculus Rift won't even run on most top-of-the-line laptops... When you consider that many first-adopters are going to have to shell out not only for the VR headset, but also a new PC with upgraded graphics card, etc., you begin to realize that the route to mass adoption is going to take a few years... (I think Zuckerberg himself noted that it would be about 3-5 years until "critical mass" was reached in VR. ) All this by way of saying, if you're not factoring in at least 3-5 years of renewals in your VR domain purchases, you're not doing your homework... (JMHO...)

Well said, its going to take over 5 years before its available (financially speaking) to the majority of average people...a lot of people are thinking in 12-24 months and they will flipping their domains, it will never happen in that time, it was the same with the cloud niche, it took over 6 years before I flipped my first cloud name, damn the wait was long but certainly worth it in the end, there were many times I almost let them all expire but just kept hoping....
