GoDaddy sucks, again

What a bunch of pricks. I wanted to transfer a .net from goodady to namesilo. I had to remove domainsbyproxy bullsh!t so namesilo could email me, not domainsbyproxy. So i deleted privacy, then had to change the contact info in my control panel. I guess when i did this I agreed to the godaddy change of registrant policy. So its locked at godaddy for 60 days, as per the policy. I want every name out of godaddy and the first transfer fails. So I guess I have to change all the contact info, technical, billing, registrant, then wait my 60 days. Now i have to renew at their prices. I wont give them the pleasure, let it drop.

Maybe I only need to change the email adresse in my godaddy acct,so namesilo can send the request to the administrative contact email, anyone got any ideas?

Yup goodaddy reg a name for 99cents then bend over rover, let bob parsons take over

REGISTRAR TRANSFER DENIED
==========================================

Dear Poor Unsuspecting Customer,

The transfer you requested has been declined because you opted-in to a transfer lock for 60 days when you agreed to the GoDaddy Change of Registrant policy.

For security reasons, when you change the registrant's first name, last name, or organization name, you consent to a 60 day lock on transferring the domain name. Because you have provided your consent, Section 3(6) of the ICANN Policy on Transfer of Registration between Registrars permits us to decline your transfer request.

http://www.icann.org/en/resources/registrars/transfers/policy-01jun12.htm

If you feel the lock was initiated in error, you may contact [email protected] to request a review.

Regards,
Domain Services
GoDaddy

This is what namesilo said happened

2014-04-15 20:45:22

Retrieved [email protected] as the Administrative Contact Email.

Where did they get that administrative contact info fromÉ
effing question mark. I sent an email to admin contact at myname at domainsbyproxy and got it right away

2014-04-15 20:45:22

We have emailed the current administrative contact for *****.net to get their necessary approval to transfer the domain to your NameSilo account. The person who receives email at [email protected] has until 2014-04-29 to approve the request or else it will be considered as being declined and the domain will not transfer.
If [email protected] is not an email address that is actively monitored, please change the administrative contact email address with the current registrar for this domain. Once the new email account is reflected in WHOIS, click the link to Re-Send the Administrative Email from within the Transfer Manager of your NameSilo account.

[email protected] what email is this

In my information it says technical contact is ....

Administrator

Registration Private
Domains By Proxy, LLC

DomainsByProxy.com
14747 N Northsight Blvd Suite 111, PMB 309
Scottsdale, Arizona 85260
United States

Tel +1.4806242599
Fax +1.4806242598
MY*DOMAIN*[email protected]

why was the request sent to a different adresse than my domainsbyproxy one. Now I have cancelled my private registration, to bad bob says bend over

And to change the technical contact info, you need to remove privacy, and once you do, its gone

---------- Post added at 10:42 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:19 PM ----------

We did not process your transfer request since it appears solar****.net is currently configured as a private registration. We were able to ascertain this information since the administrative email associated with this domain is currently set as SOLAR*****[email protected]. This is a known private registration for GoDaddy (or GoDaddy reseller), and they either do not allow domain transfers for domains using their privacy service, or will not deliver email to the address is use.
Please update your domain at your current registrar by removing WHOIS privacy and making sure you have access to the email address in use for the administrative contact.

Once this has been done, please return to the Transfer Manager and click the link to Re-Send the Administrative Email. As soon as your domain completes transferring to NameSilo, you can make it private again using our free WHOIS privacy service.

S0 ThE moral of the story is, to sell a name with private whois, you need to delete it, change your contact info, and wait 60 days for security reasons. I will remove all my private reg, wait 60 days and every name is gone.Poof
Once you buy private whois from goodaddy, to make it public you must remove it, and it is considered cancelled. With NameSilo.com 8.49 free WHOIS, unlock it, lock it, do it every day,np

I assume it can be transfered between goodady accountsÉ
effing question mark
anyone knowÉ
geez. Thats enough excitement for one night, Namesilo gonna refund 8.50

I had similar situation. Send email to GD Review60 Team at [email protected] and request to unlock the domain. It will take them a few days but they should unlock it.

When I remove privacy at GD, I don't have to manually change any info.

I think what happened here is that the domain in question was originally transferred to GD with existing privacy information from another registrar. And when you added DomainsByProxy, it was in effect placing their privacy info on top of theirs (the one using domainprivacygroup.com).

Hmm... was it hand regged at GD? If so then it doesn't really make sense that they would have domainprivacygroup.com as your contact info. A search of the whois, shows this company is associated with Netfirms.

As far as I know GoDaddy forwards the @domainsbyproxy address to your own email. That's the way it used to be anyway.

One of the requirements for a successful domain transfer is that the name does not have any privacy applied to it. This is why people remove the domain privacy before initiating one. So I don't think that this was the case :)

I changed my contact information like a week ago which triggered the domain lock. I was not aware
that this would happen. So I sent an email to the GD Review60 team. It took them 2 days to reply. Today they sent me this >>>
WTF?!!

The GoDaddy threads are now getting countless... ;)

Seems like a verification procedure to me, and its not so uncommon too. What IS uncommon is why they are performing it right now, when such verification seems productive to seed out suspicious orders, when a new customer creates an account. In your case its just a case of changed registrant information. A normal procedure would be to send an email to the old registrant email that changes have been requested and if they are unaware/unwanted the owner of the email should simply reply and revert them. This way, if I am a fraud, the real owner would see my attempt and stop me in my tracks. GoDaddy seem to have a much more complex route and ask for ID identification for all the wrong reasons ;)

Exactly.

Strange, i've transferred out few domains recently and it went smooth and quite fast. Between < 1 and 3 days. Two transfers were almost instantaneous.
