Stu - as you picked up nfcpoker do you think casino would be suited for this tech.

how about domain's like

nfclasvegas
taplasvegas
mobilelasvegas

or doesn't this work - just doing some research on these keywords and wondering if anyone has looked into this.

thanks

@D-K

I do see NFC playing a big part in the casino, when experts talk about a " cashless society" , this applys to everything. Coins and notes will not disappear from society for then everyone to keep them to one side for the slots. NFC enabled slots are already in the works, tapping your phone against the slot will simply load the slot machine with digital dollars from your Wallet.

Nintendo's Wii U console coming loaded with NFC controllers is a warning shot.

I am not saying this for everyone to go mad and register everything to do with NFC & Gambling, be clever on the after market or play smart with words if you choose to reg, that is my advice.

Fortune favours the brave!

nfcaesarspalace ?

Probably tap better here for the public but as ever who knows if nfc will remain a tech term or go mainstream.

Check this out https://www.x.com/devzone/articles/how-gaming-industry-using-nfc-technology

taplasvegas - interesting to consider tap geos. Actually google maps mobile now lets you store maps for offline use when on a journey.

About wallets and whether just a few big players will offer or control them - look at this - an individual university level wallet

http://fsa.sunysb.edu/services/wolfies-wallet/wolfies-wallet-faq/

Wolfie’s Wallet is a campus prepaid declining balance debit account encoded on your campus ID. It is a safe and convenient way to make food purchases from on and off campus merchants, wash and dry your laundry, make purchases from campus stores and vending machines, mail packages in the residential mailroom, purchase tickets through the USG ticket office and utilize print and copy services.

Oh and some beertap names are coming up on Goddady clearouts.

A nice .com is free but if the players in this field ever get it together to provide this they might just be happy with .org :

walletstandard(s).com

great site idea for the inevitable walletvirus... yeah somebody took walletvirus.com a few days ago, the virus will steal or erase your cash and everyone will google walletvirus. walletmalware and wallethijack are free, but someone took nfcpickpocket.com already. A good guy or a bad guy?

You can have your mobile phone disabled, cracked, crashed, destroyed, maimed.

QR codes, NFC apps are all centered on TRUST between you and the POS. Scan at your own risk imho.

I would never put my wallet and contacts in one location and run around tapping and waving at things UNLESS I had very strong contract converage limiting my losses (like exist with a CC). Tie your "wallet" to your checking accounts... watch it get emptied... hope you get insurance coverage/protection?! Watch the limits... banks have been DYING to get away from credit card protection.

A virus takes advantage of software / network holes. NFC is not, by default, encrypted or secure (except by distance).

Wow, first time I have ever congratulated someone on getting a virus. Nice one!

Walletantivirus.com was taken last year and renewed - great for selling a solution, or more likely, something that says it is a solution and then infects the device.

Reg'd yes, resold no.

You can get malware on a phone, yes. You can also get domain fever in a mouse which will then eat your wallet. Occupational hazard of being around domains, no known cure, sometimes referred to as Sedosis.

iPhone 5 rumors: NFC to be included in next iPhone

http://www.inrumor.com/in/technology/iphone-5-rumors-nfc-to-be-included-in-next-iphone/

According to Orange, the Cupertino company is concerned about the fact that the tech may not meet expectations.

“There is a question about Apple [adopting NFC for the iPhone 5],” said Jean-Paul Cottet, executive VP of group marketing and innovation, at Orange, as cited by CNET UK. “I think, seen from Apple['s perspective], the market is not yet enough mature.”

Cottet recently had a meeting with Apple CEO Tim Cook and marketing chief Phil Schiller on the subject of NFC. He added that Apple has to focus on “the customer journey,” meaning the advantages the technology can offer to clients.

But first, the site notes, in order to be put into practice, NFC has to be adopted by the shops and retail stores where such transactions are possible.

Now mobile manufacturers, such as Noka, are building their phones with NFC included.

“For Nokia, [NFC] is a no brainer. It changes the game,” Cottet said. “And we have the good support of Microsoft, even for Windows Phone 8… They work on NFC from day one on the new Windows Phone operating system.”

In France, NFC-enabled SIMs were provided to customers by Orange last year with a view to start building an NFC market.

“All our SIM cards are now NFC-enabled,” said Cottet. “We decided to put that on all post-pay SIMs, not for pre-pay — but 90 per cent of the business is post-paid in France… We are betting on the future.”

Yes no doubt Iphones will have NFC because everyone else will, but will Apple base their payment system on NFC or on a bluetooth wallet?

Bluetooth 4.0 is Apple's answer to the digital wallet and an alternative to NFC.

For starters, Bluetooth can go into ultra-low-energy mode, passively making connections and transferring the information necessary to conduct a financial transaction. And it can make those connections at much greater distances than NFC can -- up to 160 feet -- eliminating the need for a customer to go to a checkout counter to use an NFC reader...

But the Bluetooth 4.0 theory means that Apple could announce iWallet software -- an app, backed by a new service from Apple -- and the program would come into being overnight.

Just aquired

CHIPANDPING.COM

Chip and pin has been is use since around 2003 and still the main form of payment around.
Banks like Barclays are already using there pingit service,
chip is the nfc chip, ping is the money being sent.

Also quite catchy and easy to remember.

Also aquired

TAPANDPING.COM

You can either tap payments or ping them with new tap and ping!!!!!!!

Yeah, looked at hotwallets. Looking on sedo there are 1168 pages containing the word wallet so i reckon a wallet name has to be pretty crash hot to have any interest in it (on sedo anyway). Also when you do a sedo search on wallet, only the net shows on the first page with an offer which is misleading as when you sort on bids there are a couple dozen wallets showing with bids. I have a few wallets and no idea which page they would appear on but the hope of being discovered is next to nil.
