Yes you insinuated correctly. .GAY is here.

This site reports it:

Domain Names of the World: New .GAY tld

My question is: I like rainbows too, why do they get exclusive rights and affiliations with it :(

You'll also notice on the dotGAY homepage http://gaytld.com/ they have the "Flickr" option at the top highlighted by default, and it becomes brighter with highlight than any of the other social engines. Maybe this is a joke, and these guys have a sense of humour? "With a Flickr of the wrist"

wow
I can't believe it happened
I have been saying they needed this for years
if any one heard me in chat here all of the times i have said this in that past
now we just need to get them to require all gay porn to be on .gay domains and/or maybe all porn to be on some other dot
then it will be good to go!
being most everything has a different meaning to a person that is gay
just look up the word gay
it has a bunch of definitions

i think it could work
im not gay / homosexual
but i could be some of the other definitions for gay easily and often (lively mood, bright & showy)

congrats to the gays that fought for this extension
but maybe we should just call em aliens
as some on else said i feel alot of the gays want to be apart from the human race
Gay is the new black

but as ernie doe said "if there is anything better than the opposite sex he must have kept it up above":D

Why do we constantly feel the need to separate ourselves from others based on our beliefs, sexual orientation, or the color of our skin? It's not just the gay community who does this, black people, white people, and religious affiliated people do the same thing too.

Equality doesn't happen by separating the apples from the oranges.
I feel this .gay tld does nothing but create more separation from the non-gay world.

I don't care for this new extension and I'm sure it's more about profit and subdomain sales than trying to reach equality or helping people come together. Visions of profits and natural human greed is what made this, and all the others to come, happen. It's nothing new to the domain name world, we dream of great profits everyday by selling the names that we are holding "hostage", lol, some would say. But IMO, this is going too far and will hurt those profits that we on the reseller level are dreaming about.

daj, About the seperation of social structures based on who we are. IMO it is only natural. I think that humans have a natural instant to categorize and compartmentalize things. A need to identify and classify. We like to bring order to chaos when order is needed. Not only that, it gives us a way to be more descriptive, I am a white, gay, German/Scottish/Irish/American Indian hybrid, American, Missourian. How else could I say that? I am human :)

Grouping together with others who are like yourself in one way or another is not about seperation but about commonalities. IMO it is about meeting others who may share similar ideas and with whom you have common goals.

Just some thoughts I had to share,
GG

I can just see this turning into another .xxx debate. There's enough restrictive filtering going on in countries and in the public arena that the last thing we need is to create a TLD that's going to be banned on sight in way too many web filters. If this goes through, I guarantee some filtering software company will come along and take a cheap shot and "proudly" filter all .gay sites by default. Then, that'll just perpetuate the beliefs that some people have that gay == sex only. That's unfair to not only the gay community, but for those of us that believe in stopping online censorship.

I think this extension is a bad idea because in some parts of the world "gay" still means happy. I guess that meaning of the word is extinct in the west. Its wrong for them to hijack the word gay and make it appear exclusively homesexual.

I am only pointing this out because no one else noticed despite 3 pages of this thread. I seriously couldn't care less about this extension.
