Doesn't link with .MOBI at all though, It is just people who are signed up with the Verizon service that can have 'access to a limited number of approved videos".

I would be more interested in hearing about them developing YouTube.mobi in to a real (FREE) YouTube Mobile site... OH WAIT... they don't own it... .MOBI is very unpredictable... 'cause as I have said before, not all companies own the .MOBI versions of their domains!

The greater point is the continued migration of video and internet to mobile phones. This is what .mobi enthusiasts want and it is inevitable in my view. The concept applies a rising tide lifts all boats and .mobi will benefit.

Considering the trademark was registered long before even the registration of youtube.com I wouldn't say it was a bogus trademark registration that is unless they were able to somehow foretell the future.

Given the aforementioned, this other "YouTube" firm could send a C & D letter to the Google-owned YouTube requesting they relinquish YouTube.com since a trademark exists?

JMJ, given your premise, the real YouTube could ajudicate and retain YouTube.mobi if they desire at some point in the future.
