names are JUST examples- not the real names-

i have a site in the singular form- say car.com
and someone else has the plural, cars.com

and there is a trademerk on cars.com BUT, the trademark says:

Providing links to web sites of others featuring hotels; Hotel information services

yes, the description has NOTHING to do with the name. this is not the name, but the name in question has nothing to do with hotels, yet this is the description listed in the trademark? i am confused by the description, because it literally has nothing to do with the domain name.

anyway, can they come after me for the singular? even parking it at sedo shows ads for what the name is, not what doesnt match in the description-

do you know what i mean?

Arbitrary marks are common --- Apple (computer) seemingly would have nothing to do with apples, but that does not reduce the viability of their trademark claims.

i understand that- there are a bunch of apple trademarks that have nothing to do with apple computers- apple and eve, apple bottoms, apple snaps, ect... there is even one for apple- that is a shovel company-

this one- if they set up their trademark to cover a complete different product instead of the intended use of the name- its weird ;-( it is obvious the intended use, but they trademerked it relevant to a whole different thing

My guess is that's a preemptive measure against a future dispute. If someone
with a trademark files a UDRP or suit to try grabbing it, the trademark of that
domain's registrant can serve as additional proof of legitimate use.

I've noticed some domainers have done that or are doing that. Obviously they
ain't taking any unnecessary risks.
