What is Yaxal?

I am a current user of osCommerce. Features I would like to have in a cart that you dont seem to have:

-Template System (like smarty templates).
- Search Engine Friendly URL's
- Enlarge image feature (not a popup window - use gd or imagemagik)
- Product Review by Users
- Product Rate
- tags for products
- meta tags for products and categories
- sort by price and rating
- sub-categories

$20 is a very reasonable price for a digital download store solution if it works effectively and securely.

Hi, you obviously didn't read our site, please take time to. Our niche is the easy CUSTOM templating system. Read or documentation for more extensive info on our templateing system. However, I have commented below.

Remember, the niche of Yaxal is simplicity. Our templating system makes things super simple on the admin. Everything is easy to navigate for the User and Admin.

I am a current user of osCommerce. Features I would like to have in a cart that you dont seem to have:

-Template System (like smarty templates). - Covered Above
- Search Engine Friendly URL's - This is a battle we aren't sure we should go after. Some servers (like 1&1) have HUGE issues with mod rewrite.
- Enlarge image feature (not a popup window - use gd or imagemagik) - I like this suggestion.
- Product Review by Users - We want something simple EASY to template. This breaks simplicity.
- Product Rate - Another decent suggestion.
- tags for products - The search takes the product name and info in regards to the search, so tags are unnecessary saving the admin time.
- meta tags for products and categories - Once again, the homepage and this thread were specifically updated about the category addition.
- sort by price and rating - Click the price button. This is once again already a feature.
- sub-categories - I see no need nor have we had requests for this from our current clients.

This is a must have as far as I am concerned. It doesnt have to be turned on for all users, but should be a feature to be used as it helps SEO efforts a great deal.

Another thing that could be an option and not be up to admins to turn on. For me it gives a feeling of belonging to a net user community.

As a store owner I want my users search experience on my site to be the best it can. Tags would allow greater functionality of the search feature. again giving the admin control to turn on and off would be fine.

Meta tags are not mentioned anywhere in this post or on the features page. I find this to be a huge benefit. Btw, back to tags. They could be used as the meta keywords too. This would again help SEO efforts with minimal work.

well not by rating... thats not a feature yet :gl: sorry must have missed that again.

- sub-categories - I see no need nor have we had requests for this from our current clients.

Your current clients must have realitively small inventories then. Larger clients and those with larger aspirations will want this feature.

New Suggestion:
RSS feeds for categories, sub-cats and tags. -> you would be amazed at the number of people that actually have over 100 rss key terms they subscribe to on Craigslist etc.. This would definately help increase exposure.


All in all your script looks great. If it wasn't for the license reporting I might jump in right now. The sad fact is that osCommerce is slow and clunky and a pain. But you still have a ton of options of other 'free' to use ecommerce solutions.

I dont mind paying a license fee but the fear is always there that the reporting server will go offline and my store will go down for good.

Again, another feature. We have licensing but when our server isn't responding all licenses are marked 'valid' just in case .

Also, in regards to the enlarged image. Codes can be used in the product description so you could use an <img src="#" alt=""/> tag.
