Yahoo vs. MSN

So... who has the brighter future? They provide most of the common services: Email, Forwarding, etc.

Hotmail/Yahoo Mail remains the 2 of the most popular email service providers

MSN's Messenger continues to be the best, probably until Gmail's msger goes more popular

Yahoo's Mail services is yet more used than MSN's
Yahoo's Msgers and other toolbar services are not as good

So.. what do you guys think? I want your opinion

And my Messenger (MSN)'s screwed up. It's 7.5 BETA and it's getting on my nerves

Yahoo has better search results. However, MSN has the brighter future. When you have a company which can back it with Billions waiting to flood in, Yahoo just won't be able to compete.

Apart from this, MSN services (MSN messenger, hotmail etc) are much more popular than Yahoo.

Have you ever thought what would happen if MSN decided to use all of that leverage to increase their market share?

According to me Yahoo! is the leader in Mail interms of quality and beats Gmail and hotmail in terms of quality.

Search Wise MSN is better than yahoo! but google is the leader.

So its a tough competition and nothing is predictable.

I think Yahoo has a more refined search engine than MSN, MSN throws out loads of unrelated results whereas Yahoo is more specific - just like google. On the other hand, as people have already mentioned, MSN is more widely used in the UK than AIM (to my personal experience).

Well MSN messenger is WAY more used than Yahoo msgers. Yahoo mail yes it's more used than MSN, and soon probably Google.

Search engion, Google is THE best. MSN and Yahoo search engions almost get no hit anymore...

Aim is #1 messenger.
MSN is way over Yahoo....
And you shouldn't be able to compare the 2....
MSN is owned by Microsoft.
And Microsoft is a higher power over Yahoo.

I prefer Yahoo for searching (as it sucks up more websites than Google. Slurp! has got to be the busiest bot of them all!). Prefer AIM for IMing (though I don't do much IMing, as I prefer PMs better -- instant record of conversations, and it's already organized by date and name).

As for survival: Yahoo would probably outlast Google. It survived the dot.com days, it's fall and other bumps along the way. It's a lean and hungry warrior now, which can knock the page off it's horse (especially when the page thinks it's the Knight).

MS's speciality is in software. It's biggest mistake was launching MSN. It suffers because it's a different market, and one that will always be second fiddle to the software division. They should sell it to Yahoo. Then let the Yahoo and Google duke it out -- competition is good for customers.

yahoo is good because it has a 100 partners and a lot of money. now that rogers teammed up with them. they can put upgrades knowing they had money. but google has like 100% uptime and upgrades a lot to. but considering google only is a search engine and an emailer. yahoo is better because they have more stuff.

Yahoo and Rogers will part soon anyways. I've heard Sympatico is thinking of linking with Altavista.. though I Know altavista's no competition when it comes to MSN Yahoo or Google (especially Google). Don't know where they're going to end up. Altavista may go up again unexpectedly (like Google)

Yes I believe so. MSN is doing poorly right now. The only reason for the fame of Hotmail is the long time it has been around. Most people's first E-mail account was created there. I've never used ANY other services of MSN, yet used Yahoo E-mail, hosting, domain reg, search, etc.

i use msn, i love msn, i always use msn
yahoo si not easy to use, msn is easy , friendly,practice. all my friends has msn. so i prefer msn

msn messenger is much better than yahoo's
but yahoo mail is better than msn, as for search results msn/yahoo are pretty much the same i prefer googles search results, so i dont really think there is 1 that stands out as anything amazing theyre all good at different things, as for the messenger i preferred msn's when it was version 4, lightwight simple to use none of the added $***e that you will never use (games?, and all the daft little links down the side are pointless)

The mail system for MSN is horrible, whereas yahoo's is a bit better.
but i prefer MSN Messenger over Yahoo.
But for best mail system, Gmail is the best.
