Yahoo! Registration Warning.

I registered a domain through Yahoo! only because they were having a sale, and that's the last time I will register through them.

After transferring to another registrar they charged me for another year's registration, and, of course, getting someone helpful there is impossible.

How much did you buy the domain for? There regular price is $2.99 On sale is like free.

Regular is $9.99. I've seen two sale prices, $4.99 and $2.99.

Generally anone sellingdomain registrations for less than $6.50 has some other way to make money. usually, as I'd guess in Yahoo's case it's a loss leader to sell hosting or at minimum to get parking revenue if you just sit on it. I'd be in the fine print you skipped over when registering (or the link to terms you didn't click) was the fine print that the price only applied if you left the domain with them or purchased some service. As boring as it seems, you really need to read the terms of service if the price is too good to pass up.

Yahoo $2.99 domains is effective only for new registered domains. They register all new domains through 3rd parties, which means you cannot transfer your domain from another registrar to yahoo because if you do so, you're not really transferring your domain. You just pay to Yahoo for using their DNS management while the domain registrar is unchanged.
