Great name for an online reseller/ecommerce store. A good pair of skis including bidings. boots and poles willl cost you over $1k....I've personally never spent less than $800 on a pair of skis and the ones I use are pretty cheap. I'm a big fan of high value product+forsale.com domains....Most will say EMD's are dead but if you want to take advantage of what people are searching for imho...these kind of names if developed properly will convert into sales faster than any brandable. Much like other winter related emd's most business in this niche is done from November to February, so the search volume more than doubles during that period of time.

I'm looking for end user pricing. No need to worry about a re-sellers price on this.

maybe low $$$ at best

plenty of sports stores that sells skis and those who ski regularly, typically buy certain brands.

while occasional or one-off skiers will rent skis.

also, the comparables you listed aren't comparable to your name

Good Luck

imo...

CyclesforSale.com

2000 monthly searches

Product+ForSale, sold for $10k

Seems pretty comparable.

Thanks for your opinion.

a comparable, is when you compare houses to homes

the price of a house is much higher than a pair of skis

therefore, they aren't comparable.

nor are truck prices, boats, apartments or land prices, comparable to the price of skis

imo....

Looks like you ignored my response post.

The cost of cycles or bicycles is comparable to a pair of skis given both can easily cost you low x, xxx. Cycles for sale sold for 10,000 and it has a search volume of 2000/month. I'll be damned if I sell this name for less than that. I'd also like to point out that you can't even buy a good pair of skis for low xxx, they normally go for at least $1k, so why would I sell this name for less than that? Even crawfishforsale.com can sell for much higher than low xxx and that's a minute market compared online ski retailing. I may have added some top end names on my comparable list but that does not mean they are uncomparable. Similarities can be made when looking at price and it's correlation to search volume and differences can be found in regards to average entry-level prices for the products that encompass each word+forsale domain, therefore there is a premium for names with very high starter costs.

I am a skier. I live in ski country. Many of my friends are hard core skiers. I am also a gear whore.
I search for skis and other equipment. Kayaks, snowboards, camp, fish, etc. etc. Have for years and with every coming season.
I am new to this domaining game. I am learning and trying to learn. Wow, is there a lot out there to learn or what?
I don't get it. Not those three words for that piece of equipment/gear. I also don't quite see the correlation to the other examples you mention (witht the possible exception of cycles) but what do I know and it is only my opinion.
With that said, I am not Bob and Sally in Indiana or Tom and Barb in Phoenix planning their next trip.
edit. I also think bob and sally or tom and barb would also rent at their destination rather than purchase prior to the trip.
Please keep us updated and good luck with it.

Welcome to NP. Let me help you understand. The phrase "Skis for sale" has high advertising competition on Google and an average search volume of over 10k. I stated earlier that during peak season the search volume doubles due to consumer demand. Let me provide you with a diagram so you can understand more clearly:
Source: Keyword Planner Pro
97OwWIw.jpg

As you can see clearly here, this graph shows the historical average monthly searches of the term "Skis For Sale" with the winter season (November to March) being the busiest months traffic wise, as search volume peaks in January at over 30k monthly searches. The statement I made earlier in regards to there being a correlation in search volume was simply stating that domains with "ForSale" in their SLD that have search volumes of over 10k tend to garner more premium prices, with cyclesforsale.com being the exception. To better understand the value of this name you should also take into account the amount of longtails that can be derived from it either starting with the term or ending with the term, using keyword.io there are about 486 longtails derived from "Skis for Sale", with many variants of brand+the term or the term+geo's etc. Now you personally may not search specifically for "Skis for Sale" but many thousands of people do search for it. It is simply a matter of preference, however, in this case there is a large contingent of people operating contrary to your own belief. I'm an avid reader and I look for books to buy every day but I don't search for "books for sale" yet there are thousands of people that do, it's all a matter of perspective. Money is made directly from the people who search for that term.

Thanks for your opinion!

I suspect if you are a hard core skier or a gear whore, you'd be the face of disgrace in the "experienced skiers community" if you bought skis at discount/low value, just like any other product. For example, if I was a "hard core fashionista" then I'd be quite against that label if I were to shop at GAP instead of my glam designer stores :xf.confused:O_o:xf.laugh::ROFL:.

However, I can relate to this domain in a positive way: I ski rarely, but am from a country full of mountains nearby and have many friends that ski seasonally. Should an event come up where we plan to go skiing for the weekend, or, if I see that I've been enjoying skiing lately, then no doubt I would check out that website to see what's available. Plus, I think that could be a great website to find some Skis and gears for a present for someone trying to get into the sport of skiing.

So yeah, probably not the place for hardcore skiers, although I bet I could argue against that one easily as well, but it definitely has a place for the majority.
