How much is this domain worth now? Knowing we have the second Xbox console called "Xbox 360". And how much would it be worth in the future, when the third Xbox is announced, but has no name to it? And how much would it be worth if the third Xbox console would be announced and called "Xbox 3"? :)

Right now, regfee to low xx. Value could be higher depending on traffic and what microsoft calls the next xbox.

What if they announce the next Xbox but don't give it a name yet. How much would I sell it for with an unannounced name? Then the users would call it "Xbox 3" for the time being, and I think that's when I can sell it without risking the fact that the next Xbox can have a different name.

Would say low xx to mid xx for right now. In another year or so, could be low xxx to mid xxx. Watch out for TM issues. If someone offers you $100 for it, I would take it an run.

TM issues (reg fee atm).. if you want to develop a site related to future additions to the xbox line, NeXbox and NextBox are still available in some ext. (NP$ appreciated if regged).

Thanks for the appraisals so far...I doubt there would be TM issues, a friend of mine owns Xbox.net, and others own other tlds as well. I would understand having something such as "MicrosoftXbox3.us", that would be a little different. According to Microsoft, as long as you include something that says "We are not affiliated with Microsoft" in your footer, then you are not infridging any rights.

More appraisals for the future are appreciated. :)

<beep!> Wrong.. do some research and don't kid yourself..

Xbox is a protected name and even if there are 1 million other Xbox domains, it still doesn't erase the fact "this" one also has potential TM issues.

In addition, a disclaimer in the footer is no protection against possible litigation.

Always remember (and I'm not speaking just to you here), Google has a long memory and spiders these threads... if you have a domain that has potential TM issues, posting it in an appraisal thread is an excellent way to bring long-lasting attention to it. Lawyers later on will have no problem dredging up your comments. Think about it.

Couldn't be said better. Litigation can occur even if you aren't as stupid as the guy who tried to extort tons of mula from VW on the domain vw.com. If you get sued, think about putting your house up for mortgage and selling your car... it is pricey!

Ok...thanks for the great post, but I'm probably going to sell it one day without a problem and TM issues won't even cross my mind...you're over-exhaggerating just a bit. If they want the domain, they can contact me, and I'll transfer the domain to Microsoft, nobody will claim a lawsuit unless I fail to hand over the domain.

Xbox.net has been owned by a friend for years, and he never got into any problems whatsoever, and if he wished to sell it, he'd probably sell it for thousands of dollars without a problem...and hopefully, if the next Xbox is called "Xbox 3", I'll sell it peacefully without problems. I mean your name on the left hand side, "Obvious TM issues", already gave away the fact that you are going to argue this for another 3 pages.

Edit
I don't have a house and I don't have a car, thanks.

You are right, if you handed over the name there would not be any litigation. However, if you sell the name, you also can be liable for the amount you sell it for. There is a decent chance you will be okay unless you try to exhort Microsoft. But just be careful...

No argument, just facts.. yes, you "can" sell the domain without a problem, but they can also "still" come after you after the fact and claim damages for the sale.

And, the "Obvious TM Issues" under my Avatar actually has nothing to do with this.. it's a joke as I own DavidGridley.com (my name).
