Any appraisals, gratefully received..

Domains receives between 100-200 natural type in hits per day. This is the 'www' domain for Timor Leste.

Technically, there is a 'www' name for each country in the world. However, in practice, there are few of these domains in private hands as either the registry or government usually owns this type of domain.

I don't know the exact figure, but would say that around 30 (or less) 'www' names are owned privately.

This is a good question. It's not a '.com', and has never been advertised commercially, so ordinarily you wouldn't expect to receive any 'type in' really.

It's not a 'typo', in any way, but I think a large part of it boils down to the fact that the Internet is such a vast and creative place... Some people are curiousity-seekers and will type in domains like this, randomly, even though there is no established form for them to do so.

The nameservers were set up incorrectly. www.tl should resolve in a couple of days to a Sedo parked page. It'll be interesting to see if the 'type in' has increased because 100-200 a day (consistent) were the figs from over a year ago...

If traffic comes from Timor I'm afraid that traffic is not worth much considering the poor economy. Now we could imagine it's a type for a .pl domain...
You should gather accurate stats.

www.tl is back up today, albeit on a parking page. If it still doesn't resolve for you, then my suggestion is to leave it another 24hrs, as I know that nameserver changes are not immediate throughout the world at the same time.

Can anyone recommend any good stats-type software for me?.. as i'd like to learn more about where the traffic is coming from.

you can set up a simple Hello, World! page and build-in a free counter such as Statcounter.com for QUICK and accurate analysis. but during this you will have to say good-bye to sedo parking while you are gathering your stats. Hope that helps. Good luck!

Tested over the last 4 days, traffic remains constant at around 150 hits per day. Users appear to be geographically widespread, and not limited to Timor Leste. In fact, visitors from Timor Leste appear to be very rare!

This would be the sort of domain that would do well as a short URL service, or maybe a http://co.nr type site? You'll do better to develop this than park or sell.
