Interesting observation.I think this is the type of domain that would have sold for 2x what it did before Sedo's new design changes. There are way fewer eyeballs actually watching the auctions now.
The most recent auction sale price is the best measure of fair market value. Few if any sales platforms draw more traffic or produce higher sales prices than Sedo despite their eyeball killing design changes. Post-bust comps ...Just won it on sedo, for 4600 USD...How much does it worth?

sld:
about.biz $510 12/2008 sedo auction
weak extension, commensurate price
tld (one word, non-product/service and/or flexible):
are.net $4.1k 01/2010 sedo - adwords keyword global exact = 246k / $0.96 cpc - dot com is parked
best.net $36.8k 11/2009 moniker - adwords keyword global exact = 550k / $1.83 cpc - dot com is parked
find.net $25k 01/2010 sedo - adwords keyword global exact = 165k / $1.36 cpc - dot com is search engine
click.net $20k 03/2009 sedo - adwords keyword global exact = 823k / $2.07 cpc - dot com is minisite
note.net $4k 11/2009 namejet - adwords keyword global exact = 165k / $1.17 cpc - dot com is minisite
scan.net $5.7k 10/2009 moniker - adwords keyword global exact = 201k / $1.52 cpc - dot com is parked
flex.net $3.8k 10/2009 sedo - adwords keyword global exact = 450k / $1.22 cpc - dot com is an isp
about.net $4.6k 01/2010 sedo - adwords keyword global exact = 246k / $0.90 cpc - dot com is a monster branded content site/search engine
Digging deeper in the past, we find that are.net sold for $1.5k in 11/2006 (up nicely), find.net sold for $21k in 12/2006 (up a bit) and click.net sold for $56k in 12/2007 (down hard).
An upside limit consideration for any sld name is brand share availability - is that sld already strongly branded with a different tld? In the case of about.net, it is deep in the shadow of about.com. About.net would have to work around that 800 lb gorilla with a different business model or a non-infringing twist on content/search. Most businesses with $XXXX+ domain budgets lean towards owning the dot com, not battling directly or indirectly an established dot com giant. A good fit end user may be dot net registry Verisign, who could use it to promote the extension, although if they wanted it they probably would have kept it.
