Hello all,

I want to make a reviews site and due to my restricting budget, I decided to opt for Wordpress.

Think of the site as a general reviews site + a hint of social networking. I set up the site myself and through the use of some pluggins, I have managed to give it most of the features that I needed it to have.

More specifically, I had to install Wordpress MU, Buddypress, and WP-ratings. These 3 basically give me almost all the features that I need. What I am lacking at this point is an original design and some coding.

What I basically need is some sort of implementation of Buddypress WITHIN the actual template of Wordpress and not as a frame on top of it. I also need someone to completely diminish the visitors' option to make new blogs. The only reason I am using the WP MU version is that I wanted to be able to use Buddypress, so I would prefer it if visitors were only given "Contributor Permissions" on the already existing main blog.

If we chat while you are looking at the site that I set up, you will easily get the idea.

As far as the design goes, I would prefer to start a competition and choose the best design, so you should be able to code it in.

If you think you can handle it, and if you can speak English, please PM me with your MSN or Yahoo contact information so that I can add you, show you my site, and explain what I need in more detail.

Looking forward to talking to you

Sounds like you are wanting a bandaid job, which leads to issues often. Why not use Joomla or something?

I am actually open to suggestions.

What I am trying to achieve is to create an inexpensive reviews site with social networking features. Furthermore, I know a whole lot about Wordpress, so I assumed that it would be easier to maintain the site if it was built on a familiar platform.

Do you think Joomla would be better? Can you recommend any Joomla plugins that would help in such a project? I would be willing to install them and see where it takes me. :)

reviews site with social networking features - Sounds like Joomla would suit you well.
Find review site Joomla template and use community extension/plugin such as
"community builder" or "Jomsocial".
