It stands for Western Samoa, and I would rate the ext very low. Just think about howmany times you've seen a .ws website. I would stay away. :D

Think it can be good for fan sites for different stuff and celebs.

Homapages and fansites, so you can see that there aint no real value in it.

Reg fee is a little high & end user sales are rare. Bad investment IMO

stick with .com's .net's .us's and I like .info's.

.ws is useless

Yeah I agree too, one of the reasons why people buy the domain is because they think it stands for 'Website' which is sort of lame in my opinion.

So what?
How many people know that?
Everyone thinks it means website and that makes it a tight extention

.WS have no future, but other extentions like .US and .INFO are just in their growing period.

Well, at the same time everyone knows what .tv "means", but that isn't a good extension, either.

Out of 1500 names, I have two .ws names as a speculative move (catalogs.ws and philadelphia.ws). Both are good single keyword domains with all other extensions taken. So far, I only think godaddy/wildwest has reasonable prices on them with some special deal. I did hear another registrar may soon have lower prices (Enom, maybe??)

.ws is not normally likely to be used for business (I have only seen one on an exterminator truck), but could be valuable to individuals wanting their first or last name, hobby, favorit sport, or some other nice short domain for a personal site. Also as a secondary name for keyword or short email addresses.

In general, I'd advise staying away from them unless you either have a personal use, plan development, or just want to risk money like a lottery ticket with a very low chance of return.

Compared with your rest domains are the two .ws have any traffic?

They might not. .ws isnt a huge extention that gains type ins

Fairly good extension, gaining more and more popularity among domain developers that are not afraid to develop good keyword names in this extension... I've been selling many lately, for prices up to $250.

Cheers,
Rob

No, negligible.

I don't think .ws is bad at all (for development purposes and future investment)..

.ws is a fairly new extension, and people haven't got used to it yet.
So if you are looking for a quick sale you should stay away from it, but 1-2 years into the future they may be worth (much) more.
There will always be a demand for good keyword (and easy to remember) domain names.
Most of the established tlds are running out of those now, so developers (end-users) will IMO turn to other extensions in the (near) future..

I don't think that the extension will matter much in 1-2(+) years, and I don't think .ws (or .cc) are bad/"cheesy" extensions at all...

Many of you focus on that .ws stands for Western Samoa, and that's baaaaaad......
Who cares???
The average surfer doesn't care/know about that anyway.
He needs a domain name (and extension) that's catchy and easy to remember..

So .ws (.cc) may not be good investment if you're looking for fast cash right now, but they may wery well be a good investment for the future.
I've got several .ws domains that I've received low $xxx offers on, but I'm not going to sell those in at least 1-2 years (unless I get some real good offers)... :)
I may loose money on this, but it may also be well worth the risk..

So if any of you have any .ws you want to get rid of, you know who you can send a PM now... ;)

Don't register .ws names, I wouldn't :hehe:

NO use. Only few good keywords are worth registering in any tld apart for the 6 main ones/. All those good keywords are taken in this extensions.

.ws sucks
IMO
