You're not connected to the internet but you'r posting a message :o.

You could use an all-in-one package like EasyPHP, that comes with PHP, Apache, MySQL and phpMyAdmin. You could just go and download PHP and MySQL though ;).

EasyPHP is nice anc easy to install on windows though :P.

Uh yeah, your document root - C:/Program Files/EasyPHP/www by default.

Make your php file and name it 'index.php' then throw it in there and open up your web browser and type in 'localhost' (minus the quotes). If it shows up your good to go.

As for the database, I'd recommend just using a software like Navicat in combination with PHPMyAdmin. I know nothing about databases and I'm getting by with a combination of the two.

I'm using easyphp as well and from what I remember it's pretty much good to go when it installs, although if I were you I wouldn't mess with the default MySQL database.

what I do is I have a webserver running on my offline pc (I use abyss webserver... search for it on google). It has php on it, and thats how I check my php files. I have cleverly configured it (well... I pi*sed around with it till I broke it) so that any emails sent through a form aren't acctually sent anywhere!

Thats how I test my php files! :)

I use (as stated above) abyss w/s and it dosen't work unless I type in "http://localhost" (minus quotes)

Like other posters said, you can install a local webserver and download programs you want to run (PHP, MySQL, etc)...

Also check out WAMP server...it has all the stuff you're looking for in one package.
