WP submissions page?

I am looking to add a submissions page to some of my Wordpress sites.
I was thinking of using PHPLD but I haven't found many directories/themes that I actually like the look of, so I'm wondering if it it is possible to keep it "in house" with Wordpress so to speak.
Seeing how WP already has a "comments" function, is there a way to have an editable submission page where visitors can submit some of their details to be listed on the site?

I don't know what kind of submissions you're talking about but check out cformsII http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/cforms/. Make it easy to add forms to your blog
