WordPress gets more aggressive with cybersquatting complaints

WordPress Foundation files cybersquatting complaints…and wins.

WordPress Foundation appears to be more aggressively going after people that use WordPress in their domain names.

The group has won six cybersquatting complaints in the past month.

Here are the domain names WordPress has recovered:

• WordPress-Toronto.com and WordPressSupport.com
• WordPressWebsitecare.com
• WordPressmaintenanceservices.com
• WordPresstheme.services
• WordPresstrainingguides.com
• Plugins-wordpress.org

Interesting that they went after some of those sites that have been listed. Some of them pretty much seem to be geared towards providing Wordpress related services

I wonder if perhaps the content on these sites where not in keeping with the Wordpress Brand OR maybe the domains where just being parked waiting to be flipped and not actually developed.

They allow people providing wordpress services to use "WP" in their domain names, but not "WordPress".

WP can't be trademark as it short and have so many abbreviation for WP, so no point saying they allow it. you can say, that wordpress can't stop people using WP in their domain name

You are right. Rather than saying they "allow" it, I should have said they "encourage" people to use it as an alternative to using their "WordPress" TM (which they don't allow).

I have and had in the past a few WP related sites, all with WP in the name, not Wordpress. I'm not this stupid.
