Would you pay more than reg fee to get your hands on domains with very valuable and high traffic keywords just repeated.

e.g.

loanloan.com
mortgagemortgage.com
jobjob.com

or even keywords and their plurals:

loanloans.com
mortgagemortgages.com
jobjobs.com

As i'm just starting out I simply want to understand why someone would or would not register such domains.

Thanks

All the domains you listed are reg'd so I'm guessing there are people who see the value in repeating keywords. And jobjob.com is kinda catchy.

But if your asking from the space of a total newcomer, the answer is that they are trying to increase their ranking in the search engines for those keywords as keywords in the URL are one of many factors considered in search engine algorithms.

More direct answer: good for search engine marketing

I understand that there is a benefit in SEO terms (I happen to have been studying and experimenting with sites of my own for 18 months now and my opinion is that keywords in domains can seriously improve the chances of getting high SERPs) but just wanted to know what the opinion is just in terms of resale value or even flipping such domains if you come across them.

well i certainly have an interest in it being worth the investment! as i have InterestInterest.com, and think that it at least has a 'useful' repetition, could be double interest, compound interest, mutual interst etc....

that doesnt mean i would reg just any old word doubled.... but i am pretty new to this, so can't give the most objective, fact-based or, better yet, sales based perspective on it..... yet!
cheers, Denver

I don't see much use in having a repeating keyword domain. It's not going to get any type-ins. The keyword in the domain is only 1 tiny factor out of many. I don't think it's practically any use for seo purposes. Content and backlinks from relevant sites are much more important for seo purposes.

I would argue that, behind backlinks and their respective anchor texts, the domain and the keywords contained within a domain make the biggest difference to a person's SEO efforts; even more so that the content. But that's just my experience and opinion...nobody but the search engines themselves can know for sure.

The domain does have some effect, but having the keyword in more than once probably is of little benefit. Instead of getting loanloan.com... You could just as easily get loan<word>.com and the difference in SEO benefits are probably negligible at best. I'd rather have a nice, brandable domain than something that doesn't even make sense. If there is some benefit to repeating keywords, than you'd be better off running out an registering loanloanloanloanloanloanloan.com, though I highly doubt this is the case.

Plus, if you really take the time to work on the SEO, adding keyword related directories and file names, titles, metatags, etc... you can make it go a long way.

And as was mentioned previously, the domain is only a small portion of the overall SEO. A lot of it is dependent on content and backlinks.

Ive recently sold JewelryJewelry -- .com -- for high xxx

There is value in super keywords with what I call "repeaters". You just need to find the right end-user.

The end-user for Jewelry Jewelry has it parked :(

The keyword in the domain has minute effect on seo compared to content and backlinks. Repeating keywords in the domain name might have negligible improvement over 1 keyword.
