Today is the big day.

Today, I will make my first serious attempt to make money off domaining by contact a number of companies which I hope might be interested in a domain I am trying to sell.

I must admit that the whole domaining thing definitely looks less glamorous when you realise that you might have to spend several hours finding prospective customers on the Internet. In fact, with every passing day, I am beginning to suspect that simply placing a domain on Sedo or auctioning it on the forums will more often than not resulting in wasted time and money, unless it is a premium name that you happen to have.

Google is my friend, and Whois will stand by my side in this struggle as I attempt to recover at least some of the money that I have invested into registering domains and buying access to certain forums. As I already told my boss before leaving the office today, if I don't come in on Monday, that's because I became a millionaire over the weekend and therefore have no reason to work.

Of course, I will not make millions, but, to be honest, I would probably be ecstatic if someone offered low xxx for this domain.

Wish me luck in my first proper domaining enterprise!

Sincerely,
George

Well, I just sent out my first 25 emails or so. Unfortunately, I had to use m ISP e-mail account, as GoDaddy was taking ages to register an e-mail address with one of my domains. Anyway, I guess the only thing to do now is wait and look for more possible customers. Cheers for all your feedback and I'll keep you up to date with the progerss (or lack thereof) of the sale.

Sincerely,
George

How have you approached this? Have you named a price, or a price range, or just let them know that you're open to offers?

Heya,

As I'm quite new to the domaining scene myself, I simply informed them that the domains are available for sale. While I do not have a particular price range in mind, I would be very happy to hear from them just how much these domains would be worth to them. Finally, I informed them that similar offers are being extended to other organisations operating in this field.

If I have any success with this operation (I've sent out about 50 emails already), I'll be sure to post my letter template in the Marketing section.

Regards,
George
