Up north politicians are getting primed for the race for the next prime minister's race and US/Canada relations is one of major debates being tossed around....

Same Sex Marriage (right = no, liberal = ~yes)

Increased Military Budget (right = maybe, liberal = no)

Bush was right about Iraq? (right = "avoid the question but
perhaps yes", liberal = "avoid the question but @#&$ no")

Economics? (Mad Cow, SARS, and a rediculous US deficit = scary)

Predictions anyone?

In Canada Liberal will win again with a very right wing PM this time around. How about the US?

Indeed bush will win. I think he started this war with the middle east then let him get the blame for when it blows up.

bush will win because the majority of people are uninformed and are too blind to see through his state of the union and other self-promoting speeches.

Really, if so why is it every one now thinks Howard Dean has a bizarre temperment and is far too emotional to be Pres after his insane speech after he found out he lost big time and he made those animal sounds and acted so violent, and acted like he had won big time, not lost?

bush will win because he has way more money...and most of the canidates will drop out. They do this just to get their face out there so people will remember them. perhaps after bushes second term.

By CALVIN WOODWARD

Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Bush declared ``jobs are on the rise'' - literally true, but listlessly so. His report on the death of the ``death tax'' was a bit premature. His account of Afghanistan moving toward freedom and normalcy is challenged by some of the realities on the ground.

Bush's State of the Union speech Tuesday was notably cautious in comparison with the one last year, when he made claims about Iraq that didn't stand up.

Delivering a speech that went through more than 10 drafts over more than two months, he picked his way carefully through language on weapons of mass destruction, taxes and more. ``There aren't a lot of disputable claims in this speech,'' said Kathleen Hall Jamieson of the Annenberg Public Policy Center.

Yet complex realities were sometimes boiled down into simplified rhetoric.

Bush's boast on employment comes against a backdrop of some 2.3 million jobs lost during his presidency. The improving economy may have begun to turn that around but the climb is slow: Businesses added just 1,000 new jobs last month, and the drop in unemployment to 5.7 percent was attributed to frustrated workers - almost 310,000 - who left the labor force.

In asking Congress to make his tax cuts permanent, Bush rattled off a variety of taxes that will automatically go back up unless something is done. ``Unless you act, the death tax will eventually come back to life,'' he said.

If listeners took that to mean the inheritance tax is history, it's not. It's being phased out during the decade but is not in its grave yet.

Bush's progress report on Afghanistan covered the opening of new businesses and health care centers, the return of both boys and girls to school and other steps toward building a nation ``that is free and proud and fighting terror.''

It did not cover developments such as the rising U.S. casualties or the surging violence overall that has threatened to delay plans for a presidential election this summer.

Also in the speech, Bush cited an 11 percent drop in illegal drug use among high school students over the past two years - accurately summarizing a study by the University of Michigan's Institute for Social Research.

But the study also found slowing declines in the use of certain drugs by eighth-graders and a slight increase in their use of inhalants. That troubles researchers who say eighth-graders are often indicative of coming drug-use trends.

Still, the speech was sprinkled with qualifying language on one topic after another.

Last year, Bush's assertions about Iraq shopping for uranium in Africa turned out to be wrong, and other statements in support of going to war were questionable.

White House officials emphasized that the speech Tuesday was carefully vetted for accuracy. ``I can assure you that it'll all be fact-checked just right,'' Bush spokesman Dan Bartlett said.

Only time can tell whether Bush's promises in the speech will be kept. But the context in which he made them Tuesday was missing on occasion.

For example, he thanked troops and the families for their service and said: ``And my Administration, and this Congress, will give you the resources you need to fight and win the war on terror.''

To date, troops have lacked some key resources. The Pentagon has struggled with delays in the production and distribution of the latest body armor to troops in Iraq, among other supply problems.

Troops reuniting with their families have had to pay for their own airfare home and other travel costs once they are flown free to a small selection of cities while on leave. The government has been working on a plan to pick up more of the costs.

I like the last paragraph the best

I think he started this war with the middle east then let him get the blame for when it blows up.

When what blows up? the hell hole that is the Mid East? How are you going to blame an anti American region on Bush? Oh..I forget.. that wasn't the Mid East that was cel;ebrating on 9-11... that was my imagination.
Dont fool yourself into thinking that the mid east problem is Bush's fault. Bush did nothing more than react to aggression.

bush will win because the majority of people are uninformed and are too blind to see through his state of the union and other self-promoting speeches.

Really? Uninformed?

Tell me, mr informed.. how many families did saddam pay to the family of suicide bombers in Israel that blew up the school busses? (Answer: 7)
How many Children died being gassed by him? (answer Approx 1,300 under age of 8)

Self promoting speeches? Like when he claimed he invented the internet...oh wait..wrong guy.

Bush's boast on employment comes against a backdrop of some 2.3 million jobs lost during his presidency. indeed.. all this began in the last yr of Clintons second term. You want to blame Bush for something Bill Clinton is Responsible for? Get real... Ap sucks sometimes.

To date, troops have lacked some key resources. The Pentagon has struggled with delays in the production and distribution of the latest body armor to troops in Iraq, among other supply problems

Indeed.. that is a shame. Thank you mr Clinton for stripping our military.
But yes.. it HAS to be Bush's fault becuase a liberal said so!

Troops reuniting with their families have had to pay for their own airfare home and other travel costs once they are flown free to a small selection of cities while on leave. The government has been working on a plan to pick up more of the costs.

Just as in every other war save for WWII. Agreed though..it is wrong.. hence why it was changed.
Side note: This Law was passed by Kennedy, a democrat.

Apaarently there are close to 10,000 citizen deaths in iraq since the WAR.

Source?
If it is true.. how many of those are due to terrorists?
Kennedy: "There are no terrorists in Iraq."

Learn the Truth from places other than the Michael "im an asshat" Moore.

If bush thinked through everything before entering iraq unjustified
no terrorist would be bombing iraq's people. It was an official survey or count by some large company read it on Yahoo News I think. But yeah it rather near to 10,000. The US ( bush administration )are only recording soldiers deaths. Let me presume if your an american you are gonna be voting for Bush. I may vote for him truly because this is a bad time to president when all these uprising in the middle east caused by running into afghanistan and iraq ( The middle east will think it an attack on muslims ). All i say is really think before doing stuff. How would the status be now Bush didn't run into iraq ( I can understand if saddam did some thing like before when he ran into kuwait),

How many people running for the office?

No your right about that. The only one allowed to Kill in Iraq was Saddam and his sons.
Havent you read of the mass graves containing maybe upwards of 600,000 bodies? The UN is investingating which of course means.. nothing will happen. Shame too.

I may vote for him truly because this is a bad time to president when all these uprising in the middle east caused by running into afghanistan and iraq ( The middle east will think it an attack on muslims ).

Indeed..this has to be the hardest presidency ever. But Id have no other doing it. Us our "running" into iraq and Afghanistan is caused by what? do you remember? it envolved 4 jets, two towers, a military installation and a field in Penn.
Not too mention the thousands of lives lost one day 2 years ago.

As far as Im concerned, Islam/Muslim countries are VERY VERY lucky we are allowing them to exist at all.
Keep up that sh!t though.. and we may change our minds.
They should keep a mental note not to piss us off again.

All i say is really think before doing stuff.

we did think. We valued oil over flat nuking the mid east... something a very high majority of Americans wantewd immediatly after 9-11.
Next time, we will seek alternative fuels.. be mindful of that.

How would the status be now Bush didn't run into iraq ( I can understand if saddam did some thing like before when he ran into kuwait),

it would be worse. School busses would still be getting blown up in Israel, Saddam would still be executing people for sneezing wrong, saddam would still be shooting at coalition aircraft, al quada would still have two more operational training camps.... etc etc etc...

I feel Bush will serve a 2nd term.

The Iraq war has the country (US people) divided on this issue.

Fact is fact "No one LIKES war"

Fact.. "No one LIKES a militant DICTATOR" who kills their own people..

The people of Iraq will be far better off without the heavy yoke of Hussien.

On a side note..
let's not forget the MANY times the UN made resolutions/demands upon Iraq without their compliance.... how LONG.. should the UN have waited and allowed Saddam to basically disregard the UN resolutions?

Okay I agree Saddam is evil woo hoo. But is the US responible for people World Cop?
Over 10,000 citizen deaths is much more than that measly 6,000.
Anyway i agree running into afghanistan but in the wrongs ways. Do you know that the president the US chose to operate Afghan. is trading Oil to the US from the sea above. Hmmmmm. Do you also know that beause the US is in depth they are rather lenient to N. Korea those countires. Because their in depth to those countires. China is responilble for the fall or iprise of the US.
Finally I agree with you for the Israel stuff.

So... what you are saying is that every Muslim, every Arab, exists now due to the fact that America 'allows' them to exist.

Whats your solution Lee, if I read you right, it sounds like a pretty Final one to me.

Thank god I know a lot of other Americans, both friends and family who do not think like you so I am not going to let this poison my feelings towards your great country. I recognise that everybody is an individual and has the right to their own thoughts however racist statements like this disgust me. And that is my right,

600,000 not 6,000.. so yes.

Do you know that the president the US chose to operate Afghan. is trading Oil to the US from the sea above. Hmmmmm

this is an internet rumor. The fact of the matter is there is NO oil whatsoever in afghanistan to speak of. All oil in the region however does come from a neighbor it them.

Do you also know that beause the US is in depth they are rather lenient to N. Korea those countires. Because their in depth to those countires.

we are not lenient to N Korea.
People are reacting our move into Iraq like they were some peaceful nation we just sacked. this is false... and you and they know it. we waited a decade to go back there to get that SOB in hopes he..the situation would change.. alas.. he became worse.

N Korea..I believe..we are treating the same. We are telling them first. if they refuse then we act.

No More..No Less than fair.

N Korea

So... what you are saying is that every Muslim, every Arab, exists now due to the fact that America 'allows' them to exist.

you even quoted me and still didnt get it right. I didnt say every muslim or lsamic person.. I said and made very clear nation(s). And yes, we could conquer the middle east within a 12 month period if so desired.

Pride is no reason to fool yourself into thinking otherwise. Saddam recently made this mistake.

Whats your solution Lee, if I read you right, it sounds like a pretty Final one to me.

my solution to what? Terrorists? yes, Indeed.. Kill them all. Anyone who wants to cause harm to me or another America should get death. Period.

Thank god I know a lot of other Americans, both friends and family who do not think like you so I am not going to let this poison my feelings towards your great country. I recognise that everybody is an individual and has the right to their own thoughts however racist statements like this disgust me. And that is my right,

lol..you even sound like a democrat. using racist incorrectly to gain sympathy to your side... alas.. my words are still here unmolested by you.. so others can see what I have said.. and take them for what it is.. truth. not the subject your trying to insinuate.

Well we didnt go into iraq because of 9-11 as I recall. That is why we went to afganastan .What ever happened to those efforts. You dont seem to hear much about that anymore. Iraq has been going on long before Bush Jr was in office. We went there to find and remove wepons of mass destruction as I recall. Did we find those yet?

Im just curious as to how much the Iraqi peoples way of life has improved since sadam was captured. Does anyone know a citizen of iraq. I would love to get there opinion on this war. I dont want to hear from a news publication .

How are we using The Oil and currency we have secured during this war? Is iraq still exporting to other countries or have we put a hold on all oil export?

Now im not trying to mock anyone or put down anyones opinions on the current president. I just dont think he has done anything that would make me as a US citizen want him in power for a second term

Sorry these are just questions running thru my head

Something that I still find very troubling is that this war started because the US assured the public that they had information the UN did not about weapons of mass destruction. Further, based upon that information it was imperative that the attack took place immediately due to the imminent threat . . .

Was the information wrong, embellished, or even fabricated? How many lives have been lost now (US soldiers and innocents) as a direct result. This war has taken a heavy toll and will continue to do so both in terms of loss of life and economically. While I agree it is a good thing to have Saddam out of power, was it worth it? Was it the best course of action?

if you will.. Bush's original reasoning for the war was two fold:

1) he kept violating his surrender terms
2) he was supporting terror and killing his people.

when congress (namely, the left) disregarded these reasons.. the WMD claim came to light.

However, I do not think we can hol dBush responsible for Bad intelligence.. from an Intelligence agency whose ranks were desimated by..Clinton. *gasp*

500 US lives vs 600,000 innocent Civilian lives.
4 Israeli School busses being paid to be blown up
dozens of suicide bombers
torture
gass attacks
invading neighbor nations

yes..to me, we were justified.
