Do you think 2008 will be a good year?

I see a lot of up and coming problems in store for 2008.

Gas prices rising more

Interest rates going high

The real estate market, falling farther

Retail sales falling to a possible recession level

Lenders very extremely cautious

Home foreclosures rising significantly

Unemployment rising significantly

2008 will be a investors dream, But-Buy- Buy, How soon the economy will recover, who really knows, but it will, investing will pay huge dividends for those who's invest, One the economy levels out.

The Domain Name Industry, Well, It is a flooded mess right now, I think it will rise in 2008, with thousands getting out of the industry, who have exhausted their funding, Certain country TLD's, will begin to prosper, .in , .co.uk, being the two most prevalent. .Info will fall significantly, .net will rise in value, just a bit though. Domain sales will be medicore, and rise in the third and fourth quarter of 2008.

Domain Name Parking as we know it, Will fade away, a few companies will shut down completely, while others will go to a private platform.

These are a few things i see in store for 2008 in the US, Please add any thing you feel will be a negative.

How do you feel, How well your country will do in 2008?

We're screwed :'( ALP get in for Australia and both times they've ran the country they had interest up to 17% and our unions were striking

2008 should be good for me though, Going to try move out in June to a house with a mate :tu:

I think things are going to get tough in the UK next year. The economy isnt as strong as many people think, cracks have been showing for a long time. We are due a recession.

Things work in Cycles, the house market cycle is 18 years - 14 years boom - 4 years bust. The 14 years of boom started in 1994 and ends in 2008. This will potentially take the rest of the economy down with it.

2012/13 will be a good year

In the Philippines we have crisis as well, lowering rates for dollar conversion since i rely heavily on dollar-peso, inflation/high prices of gasoline/diesel/food/transportation, and increasing prices of day to day commodities my son's tuition fees, oh so many expenses. but thanks to Philippians 4:19 I have hope :) :xf.love:

The UK is looking good for 2008, Imo. The Pound continues to stay strong, the over all economy, at least from stats i can see, look very promising for 2008, for the UK.

Typically election years in the USA when it's certain a new president will be elected (Bush can't run again) the economy cools off and watches the election process. It doesn't normally nose dive or falter very far it just sits idle with low growth. The market doesn't like uncertainty. Once a new president is elected (no matter how it is) they gain confidence once more and bingo...back to business.

The housing market imho is going to be the worst of 2008 but it's not going to be a crisis situation. The foreclosure rate will probably remain steady but it's already at a bad place. Foreclosures are usually on a new home buy. Investors stopped buying risky property for high prices in 2006. So we don't have that many more houses that will be foreclosing really. The foreclosures help the market bounce back though by creating a buyers market. At certain levels people gain confidence in home buying once again. The farther prices get pushed down..the faster the bounce back will be. Every dip is followed by a gain...that's a strong market economy and it's what we have in America.

My biggest economic concern..national debt and China.

How could i have not thought of, National Debt and China, I guess i was so preoccupied with what is going on directly around me, I didn't think of the two biggest problems we may face.

Not to mention, Korea and possibly Iran, All we can do is, surely hope we can steer clear of any conflicts with any other country.

Great points, labrocca

I feel your pain , Nick, Especially the getting old part

2007 has been a par year for me, I am taking measures to make sure my money market savings, 401K and ect is protected for 2008, I am feeling a calm, before the storm, I have considered taking the penalty on 401K, and with drawing it, i would loose some 12k doing so, but i do not trust the company with my money at this point. So i am in in a dilemma with it, loose 12K , or possibly lose 160K.

I am speaking with a financial advisor about it, from what he has advised, i wil most likely take the 12K loss, and move on.

Yes and I am stuck on all sides as I know nothing on finance and I am losing great deal of money very foolishly.

It doesn't feels good to see the money being wasted in front of our own eyes when that money is ours and we have worked hard for it.

The guys I am shouting at are cold as ice. They don't even move. Sometimes that frustrates me more and more. Whenever I call them they are eating or they are asleep or watching TV :'(

My Blood pressure is killing me in most of the cases. Things that don't happen as planned makes it more frustrating. [That also when someone else messes up a simple thing]

Maybe 2008 will change all this and I will be out of it. Which I have much doubts. Because on other hand I am also greedy and the hunger for more never dies :(
