or wifigear.com

A nice and short one:).

wifi (usually wi-fi) is a type of wireless networking that is gaining popularity.

Also taken in .net, .biz, and .us.

Any opinions?

But that alone won't stop it from an UDRP proceeding, if that is the intent of the TM holder ... IMHO.
Good stuff! :)

The use kills it with or without the hyphen right? Because it would definitely be wi-fi equipment.

Not sure how much that would be true, Ogre.
I'm more concerned with it's โ„ข issues, and perceived โ„ข issues ... especially insofar as wholesale/reseller :$: valuations namespace, IMHO.
Thanks.

LOL, I was wondering how I was able to get the snap on it the night before it dropped. Now I know:).

Like the old saying goes "If it looks too good to be true, it probably is".

In this instance, apparently it doesnt, according to wi-fi.org Marketing Director.

I thought I would update this thread on something I found out yesterday.

After a closer look at TESS (USPTO), it says Wi-Fi is a certification mark not a trade mark. Now that makes a lot more sense because they are a non-profit org.

Now my question is does this certfication mark for Wi-Fi give them control over what domains use "wifi" or "wi-fi" like wifigear.com?

I thought so, I was wondering why a .org had trade mark.

Yep, I think that puts me in the clear with wifigear.com as well.

It does not matter what's on their website, but with what is actually registered. I think they should remove the part about it being a registered trademark though, if it's not. That definitely caused some confusion here.

The bottom line is that I certainly don't need any products certified:).
