Why LLLL.coms are a no brainer.

AREP.com sold on Afternic for $11,111. The company that bought it is "American Real Estate Partners" .. you can see why they just had to have that particular LLLL.com. This is why people hold them.

In the meantime, unless there is a big crash in the domain market, any LLLL.com bought at regfee or wholesale prices can pretty much guarantee at least getting back the original investment, which is why I say it's a no brainer.

Sure, sales like AREP.com are the one in a million (or one in 456,976 I suppose), but it's like having a lottery ticket you can sell back for the cost of the ticket if you don't win...

Then buy them all up then if you can't lose. The problem is if you reg 50,000 that will cost you $350,000 per year so you need to have enough sales out of the 50,000 to repay the $350,000 (plus 5% foregone interest). Of course you will be able to park them but that might only bring in $50,000 a year........plus you need to be reward for the time effort sales hassle etc. So its not quite the no brainer you suggest......Also unlike the LLL.coms there are all the .net and .biz and .org that have not yet been regged.

Don't get me wrong I like 4 letter .com for long term but it is certainly not the no brainer you suggest ....if not I would have regged em all myself...the thought has crosssed my mind several times.

I'm going to outline another obvious no-brainer: some LLLL are better than others. AREP is good and pronouncable. It's not hard to find meaning for that kind of acronym. On the other hand names like AQHZ are not really top-notch.
I'm sure there are still good LLLL names available. Go for quality and not quantity.

I agree.. quality counts heavily.. I would never buy a LLLL blindly, preferring instead to purchase one either pronounceable or with meaning.

If I had $350,000 sitting around to invest I would very seriously consider it. You don't need to sell them retail, you just need the minimum price for LLLL.coms to reach around $10 and if you put the time in to sell them you're still looking at $150k, not counting those you would sell for > $10. A lot of work? Sure, let's say you work on it full time for a year, still not a bad salary.

Of course the real question is would the remaining 50k or so LLLL.coms being registered push the price up to $10 or higher even for 'low quality' letters, that doesn't seem like a huge stretch...

Of course we have the obvious WORDS ...
then we have the pronouncable and the acronyms and
the logonyms ;)

I would outline also the great "lottery" ticket chances we had/have within the LLLL.coms

I recently aquired ashv _com :-/ and got my expences out of the PCC within one month, and now it goes with over a 100$ a month at NameDrive.

PS:
"No brainers"
I accept offers >NNNN.USD on maybe the famoust acronym ever
--> INRI _com ;)

wow, that's a nice earner :)

There are currently 1165 LLLL.com due to drop at snapnames, I guess they are not so easy to sell just now :'(

some are waiting for all the 4-Ls to be purchased before value dramatically increases, but this is unlikely to happen (famous last words). There will always likely be some rubbish left at the bottom of the dustbin which is probably around the 35-40k mark. The continuing issue is whether the $10 value domains are likely to be renewed and if not then there will be continued restocking of the available numbers for the foreseeable future.
