Invisible Mode?
Selecting yes allows you to surf the forums without appearing in the 'Logged In Users' list.

I can understand this feature would work for the occasional lurker but when an active member posts back to back and their still "offline" it makes no sense to me??? Somebody would need to be awful slow not to pick-up on the fact that the member was indeed online.

I remember there was a big arguementive discussion on the invisible mode feature on another forum I was at.

"Why did active posters set themselfs to invisible mode?"

Every member was involved in discussing the topic and trying to come to a conclusion... All in all, we didn't get a reason as to why active members broswed invisible. The invisible members simply argued the fact that it's their choice, and that they don't need a reason for it.

I can understand why moderators/admins need to broswe invisible, and thats just simply down to forum moderation, and keeping an eye on possible spammers and/or 'bad' members. I don't see a need for active members to be invisible on the forum.

In my personal opinion, and from the discussion on the other forum I was at, I put it down to attention seeking, but I doubt that would be the case here. The other forum was a celebrity forum, where there where alot of teens... Come on, we all know what young ones are like on forums; "Luv Lucy", "Thank you, you mean soo much to me", "Lucy loved me before she met you" etc etc  :|

maybe they don't want to draw attention for some reason or another, or someone being invisible might want to be as lowkey as possible because they don't like to be noticed by everyone. Then again, maybe some are trying to avoid certain people...who knows?

Whats the point in setting yourself to invisible mode, in order to avoid somebody and/or keep a low key, if your going to be ACTIVELY POSTING!?

Maybe they want to keep the other members from seeing in which forums they visited or read, etc.

It definitely isn't logical, but they just might feel better that way.

This was way off topic that is why I posted in The Break Room. Just noticed some folks replying to threads and they were never marked as "online." Hey, knock yourself out if that is your thing. I just thought it was funny myself because anyone with half a brain can tell that their online when they reply back to back on threads.

hey, Darren, I don't know why people do it, I was just giving some ideas, thinking outloud. If it floats some people's boats, fine.

I'm not sure why either, but I'm happy one of the most invisible posters has switched to visibly posting recently! Way to go!

People are still going to PM you anyway if your posting... We're trying to find out why people that actively post are set to invisible... Even if your not going to show up on the 'Users Online' list, people will still see if your online when you post...

Sorry if my sentance sounded harsh, or as if I was shouting at you, I didn't mean it that way! I was just wanting 'actively posting' to stand out! :cy:
